Teddy Bears and Teacups … Tres Chic! Today, I am sharing one of my favorite diminutive teasets. I bought it in England at the Stoke-on-Trent flea market. I had to chip off a thick layer of ice to see it. I do not think its vintage – but what I do know is that I fell in love with it instantly. I love the Frenchy scene, and have several smaller plates that have similar scenery.
Why the Teddy Bear? Because this poor fella has had a really bad day. He needed some love and the comforts of a good cup of tea.
Here is a close-up of the Frenchy scenery….oh-la-la….
I love the gold and the burgundy colors….
I have the complete set with teapot, sugar and creamer and six petite cup and saucers.
My Frenchy coffee table was the appropriate setting for Teddy and I to enjoy an afternoon tea. The outside was wet and dreary. I draped the table with a simple lace tablecloth. To keep the occasion from becoming too stiff and formal, I added some whimsical burgundy and white polka-dot napkins with French ribbon trim.
Pink candles added a touch of ambiance….
A porcelain, placecard holder with a basket filled with silk blossoms proclaims the flavor of tea….Passion Tea. Very appropriate for the occasion…and for the Frenchy lovers on the teaset.
A beribboned vintage, silver serving tong makes serving the sweets a ….well, piece of cake.
This is a plain, white pitcher purchased inexpensively. The added artwork is peel and stick stickers from the scrapbooking section of Michael’s.
Je l’ Aime!
Dark pink peonies and ivy…..flowers fit for any tea!Vintage French postcards tucked beside a teacup…..
hmmm…. Teddy does not look much happier, huh? Me thinks me needs to put a little something “extra” into his tea. My Grams called it “medicinal.” LOL
Maybe he just needs an extra cookie.
I hope you have enjoyed my Teddy Bear Tea Party. I can’t wait to see all of your wonderful posts.

Barb, that is so elegant and beautiful and all the added touches just set it off perfectly. I like it, but bet you don’t use that often. Looks so delicate, like a “Just lookie” tea set. Love the napkins, it really sets that tablescape off “to a Tea!”
View CommentBarb,
View CommentIt’s me again…..I had to look again at your pretty tea set…Is that life size ? Wow ! I am really worried about Teddy, he seems to have a permanent frown….maybe he
is more into hot chocolate…lol !
So darling :o)

Barb, your little tea set is beautiful! And you are just way too smart with the stickers on the white pitcher. I had noticed it in an earlier picture and thought “wonder where she got that pretty pitcher”, and then read further and found that it was stickers!! I am so excited, and I’ll be looking for similar stickers. Thanks for that brilliant idea. laurie
