A Winter Farmhouse
Regardless if you live where there’s 12 inches
of snow on the ground, or barely a dusting – this time of year
makes you instinctively want to cozy up your home.
I know, I know – you may very well passionately dislike Winter.
You may long for sandy beaches and palm trees and flip-flops.
But, until warmer weather settles in for the season…
we just have to find ways to add some
All we can do is hunker down and make the most of it.
Spend time playing games, or finish that novel you started long ago
and are far from finished.
Remembering the bliss of what it’s like to enjoy
just being.

Sometimes the soul needs quiet time to simply appreciate the
peacefulness that only happens when the snow is falling softly
against the window panes.

A Winter Farmhouse | The Everyday Home
Even when you think you will scream if you have to spend one
more moment “trapped” inside your home –
and, even when the weatherman threatens more snow –
dig inside and remind yourself that it’s okay to slow down.

It’s okay to try out that recipe you’d pinned months ago and
never had time to fix before.
And, then give yourself permission to have seconds.

A Winter Farmhouse | The Everyday Home
You can do an extra workout when the ground thaws.
While you’re at it…put on a big pot of chowder or soup or stew.

And, after that extra helping of cake, you might as well throw
in some crusty bread.

A Winter Farmhouse | The Everyday Home
The crackle of the fire seems to be lulling you to sleep…
after all – with a full tummy who can resist a long, Winter nap.
So draw up a hot bath –

Linger a little longer than you normally do.
Then, snuggle under some cozy blankets and let Ole’ Man Winter
do his thing outside, while you do yours inside.

A Winter Farmhouse | The Everyday Home
As night creeps through the windows, and the sun settles below
the snow-covered horizon… take a moment to cherish these fleeting
moments. Permit yourself to enjoy the solitude
that a snowstorm allows.

… because when the temperatures rise and the snow melts.
Reality will return. The hustle and bustle of life will again protrude
on your serenity. And you will look back at this season, and be
thankful that you allowed yourself to simply –
enjoy the now.

Nice post! Now I need to go back and check out some of your links. Have a Happy Valentine’s Day!
View CommentOh Barb, what a cute post, I love it. Makes me want to curl up by a fire, however it is about 80 here, so that won’t work. Happy Valentine’s. Hugs, Marty
View CommentHI Barb, love your post. It is wonderful. I am cleaning house today and fluffing a bit. I like all your pictures, especially the one of the table and slipcovered chairs. Made me stop a bit to look more closely.
View CommentHope you are doing well!
Blessings,
Debbie
It is 80 here in California today…so no fire…maybe socks though!
Happy Valentine’s Day Barb! What gorgeous cozy images! LOVE farmhouse style!
View CommentWhat an awesome post! Yes, we are ready for spring, but there are benefits to winter as you have mentioned. Your post sounds like a plan for me tonight, comfy, cozy and warm dreaming of warm days to come while enjoying the quiet winter evenings.
View CommentI love this post! Happy Valentine’s Day!

View CommentGreat reminders! I’ve been double-stuck inside for the past 10 weeks or so, partially because of snow, partially because of the new baby. It’s such a crazy time, but I know I’ll look back on these few months fondly and I’ll be glad for the extra coziness that all the snow provided. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!
View CommentI love your Farmhouse Friday posts, my sweet friend!
View CommentGreat shop. Very unique items. I think my favorites are the bird letter holder. I love all things birds. I also love the twine and scissor holder. I can see why that’s one of the favorites.
View CommentHi!
I am wondering where you got the grey cable knit comforter in one of your photos?
View CommentHi – it is no longer available with the company, sadly. It was a UK company.
View CommentWhere can I purchase a comforter set like the one pictured above??
View CommentDo you remember the brand and/or name of that comforter set?
View CommentIt was from a UK company and as far as I know, it is no longer available. Sorry. 🙁
