The pig has spoken!
He personally said to me – “bring on the bling.”
When Cleetus speaks, I listen.
So bling it was.
In the form of sparkling white lights and snow.
This cheery and bright Vignette in my breakfast room
sets the theme for the rest of the kitchen.
Sweater trees, pinecones and a little bit of sparkle.
I have a little surprise bonus too…
a step-by-step Lighted Candle Tray Project.
I hope you enjoy this…
Christmas Vignette Farmhouse Style
Every season, there are two areas of our home
which I decorate first.
The mantel, which I will be revealing this week,
and this area of the breakfast room.
The rooms are two entirely different styles.
One is English Country – and this one is
pure Farmhouse Country.
I started this vignette with a simple galvanized tray.
A strand of 50-lights was placed inside the tray…
Next, I layered fresh greens.
*disclosure: never leave lights and fresh greenery unattended.
I wanted a focal point but wasn’t exactly sure
what to use. I tried a wood-carved Santa…
It was too small.
I tried a glass, trifle dish.
Nope. Not right, either.
This one was too big.
So, I tried some candles…
They were just right.
Some candy-cane striped ribbon made it even better.
I added sweater trees and fun, polka dot moose.
A fluffy, pine wreath adorned with a sweater ribbon
bow surrounds Cleetus…
And with that…all was right in the Farmhouse Kitchen.
I love how this area of our breakfast room is so versatile.
A new wreath around Cleetus, a new runner, and some
accessories and it says instant Christmas.
I wish you could see in real life how this area takes on a
warm glow at night. I love to light the candles while
I am cooking dinner, and listening to one of my
all-time fave Christmas CD’s by Aaron Neville,
*(affiliate link)
I did add one more small thing…
well, four small things actually.
Four glitter letters…
Noel.
Four simple letters with so much meaning.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel …
Born is the King of Israel.
Joyeux Noel, my friends.
I look forward to sharing our home in these
next few weeks…bedecked in all it’s Christmas glory.
Join me this Wednesday for our Mantel Reveal.
Until then, I would love it if you would PIN these
images to your favorite Pinterest Boards.
I have one more very exciting thing to announce if you
are a Blogger or thinking of starting a blog…
I just released my first eBook…

You had me at “glitter!” LOL I love your vignette and how you tried different options until you got it “just right!” The candles are perfect nestled in your greenery all aglow. Mr. Moo approves of his holiday decor, too, I can tell. Happy Holidays, friend!

Thanks for the information on the galvanized tray from the HomeTalk comment. I’m convinced that different stores from the same chains carry different merchandise. I’ve been in and out of Hobby Lobby in the metro Atlanta area all fall and haven’t seen this…but I’ll look again today. Another readers suggested TJMaxx because she’d just got one there…well that is another favorite of mine and I haven’t seen it there.
View CommentAnyway, many thanks and have a wonderful holiday.

You’re very welcome. It may have even been a few months ago too. I also flip houses and buy lots of stuff for staging, so I can’t remember exactly when I bought it. But, I do know I have been to the Raleigh Hobby Lobby with my friend and not purchased something, an went to my local HL and they didn’t have it. So you are correct. Hope you find something. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by. ~Barb

Hi Barb,
View CommentYour home is wonderful, and everything so festive. Love it! I do have a question for you, where can I purchase the polka dot moose?
Merry Christmas,
Joy
Barb says
Hi Joy – I am sorry to tell you I purchased them many years ago when we lived in Colorado. I am quirky and those are the things I would buy as remembrances of where we lived at the time. 🙂 Sorry I didn’t have a better answer. Maybe Google or Amazon or eBay? Merry Christmas, Barb

I just discovered your blog and your style is so the style I want. For years I never bothered with my house because I thought I could not do it, I have been told I have no style. But lately I have became very interested in doing my house the way I want and phooey on those people who do not like it. This is classic, simple and natural. Just what I want. I am stealing it.

YES! Stay true to what you love and how you prefer your home to look and feel. Don’t worry about trends because they will come and go. I decorate with what I love. 🙂

Thanks for the inspiration. I have a small tobacco basket (using as a tray) that I’ve been stumped on decorating. I’m so stealing your ideas. Thanks for sharing!
