Much better! The microwave was moved next to the fridge. Still usable but not so visible when looking into the kitchen. The wine cart was moved to another area – which I will show you later.
Here’s that wine cart. Maybe not a “traditional” Living Room item, but with the addition of Dollar Store wine glasses and the owner’s wine rack – it became an instant bar.
More colorful artwork (borrowed from the Dining Room wall) replaced the black and white famous WWII Kissing scene print. Dollar Store candles simplified the mantle.
This air mattress was pretty much his guest quarters. Keep in mind he was single….Marines are used to sleeping on a whole lot worse. 😀
… added the screen as a headboard and used a Big Lots “Bed in a Bag” set to dress the “new” bed.
Several bloggers have emailed me about this week’s Porch and Patio Party, saying they wanted to participate but again, because of weather, they just not ready. So I have decided to postpone the Party to next week. That will give more of you a chance to get ready. So – mark your calenders for MAY 19th.
Tuesday is the kick-off of a new weekly event
Finally – don’t forget about

Great job! I am so glad you kept the WWII print – I love that. I hope this Marine’s home sells and he stays safe.

fantastic!!! you did a great job, and my favorite was this very little simple thing you did, but yet had a big impact, that is when you hung the napkin on the top of the plain curtains. BRILLIANT! I also agree that staging is very important, we staged our home and it we had an offer before the sign hit the front yard. Thanks for sharing, i really enjoyed your thread.

In my residential construction business, I have found it to be similar with new home buyers. You would think that the majority would want to purchase a new home early enough in construction to pick out floorings, wall colors, appliances, etc. Wrong! Most want to see it finished. They just can’t visualize.
Good job.

This is a great transformation Barb, and it just shows what can be done on a very limited budget. You’re right, most people can’t see past the furniture, colors, etc to the “bone” of a house. That my dear is where you come in! Have fun on your trip, and can’t wait to see all the pictures! Hugs, Kat

Thank you for the wonderful comments you left. I actually tried to email you last week but was having connectivity issues and the email wouldn’t send.
I had been wondering how your eating plan was going since I had not seen an update. Congratulations! That’s great progress!
Also I was wondering if you planned to post anymore Atkins style recipes?
Have a great day!

I love your staging job! Isn’t it funny how moving a few things around and adding some inexpensive items just change the whole vibe of a place?
By the way, are you going to have a Mr. Linky up for Teatime Tuesday?

Hi Barb…
OMG!!! Girl, with just $150 and the fabulous transformation that took place…I’d say MIRACLE WORKER is more of an appropriate name for you than a stager!!! Seriously!!! The fact that this home which previously sat for 6 mos…sold just 2 wks after your fabulous work…just prooves my point!!! I love it!!! Loved seeing all of the “before” and “after” photos…that’s just so much fun!!! Ms. Barb, you are one very talented lady!!! Thank you so much for sharing this home and it’s metamorphosis with us!!!
Girl…you, Debbie, and Kathysue are just going to have the time of your lives!!! I’m so happy for you all!!! Of course, I have known Debbie and Kathysue for some time…we first met on RMS, as many of us did! I would just love meeting all of you ladies!!! Have fun…and enjoy, Sweetie!!!
Warmest wishes,

Barb, You are one talented lady! Amazing what items you can find at Big lots, one of my favorite stores, and the dollar store. True people arent buying the furniture and accessories, but if you ever watch any of those design to sell or other staging shows, when people come thru during the open houses, they are always commenting on the things that will not stay, it cracks me up, so I agree with you staging is very important! Thanks for sharing, Sue

Well done! You’re very clever. I was amazed at the idea of the two inflatable mattress and the screen for the guest room, what a change. Thanks for all the inspiration.

Barb, a great job and do you charge for your staging for USMC families? I know in this weak real estate market, that was one happy Marine knowing it got a contract so quickly because of your talents.
