“No Sew Moss Pillow”
Have you ever wondered why people do the things they do?
Especially crafters.
I look on Pinterest and see some of the projects and think…
I like her mind. She thinks like I do.
Take for example, this moss pillow.
What would have made me look at a roll of moss and
instantly say “pillow!” (?)
Well…I don’t know, but I do know that I TRULY
enjoyed making this project and can’t wait to add it to our
Spring Porch which I will be sharing for my
Spring Porch Linky Party on March 21st.
But today – I am joining up with five other fabulous friends
and Bloggers to present to you:
A Spring Showcase of No Sew Projects
This may very well be our BEST No Sew Showcase yet!
I will be share all the participating blogs and their projects below.
So let’s get started…it’s so easy!
Before we jump in…I would like to give a big shout-out to
Crafty Cat (aka Baby Lily) who served as my handy assistant.
Here are the supplies you will need…
I have really fallen in love (aka obsession) with this moss sheeting.
It is so easy to use and cuts your glueing (and burned finger)
time in half. It isn’t cheap at $14 a package, but that
is when your Michael’s iPhone app and 40% discount really
comes in handy. I also grabbed a 99-cent “B” monogram
and two packages of discounted paper flowers and butterflies.
($1.99 a package – 40% off with your iPhone app)
I folded the moss sheeting into about a 12×12 size.
Then I folded a “flap” back over about halfway the length.
I wanted to create the look of an “envelope” pillow…so I trimmed the
flap into a triangle shape.
Now, it was only a matter of gluing the sides together with a
low-temp glue gun.
Once the sides were glued, I needed to run upstairs to grab some
“pillow stuffing.”
I wanted to use packing paper (you can use newspaper, etc) so the
stiff paper would hold the shape of the pillow better.
Lucky for me, Crafty Cat served as a “paper weight” so my moss
pillow did not blow away while I was gone…
the whole 3 minutes.
Once fully stuffed, I simply glued the flap down.
I wanted to emphasis the envelope part of the pillow,
so I added two rows of jute twine.
The one word which comes to mind for this process is “ouchie.”
(I have decided I would make a great bank robber because there is no way
I have any fingerprints remaining.)
Now it was time for the fun…adding the flowers and
butterflies and decorations.
I gave the wood “B” monogram a coat of pink paint.
...then placed the paper flowers and butterflies where I wanted
them before gluing them all down.
I just love these flowers…
The butterflies look like they are nestling in the moss.
Once I had glued down all the decorations, I added a jute hanger to the
painted “B” monogram…and embellished it with a cute little butterfly, too.
Crafty Cat and I agreed it would be beautiful on the chippy,
metal bench that is nestled in the ivy garden.
The pillow will be moved up onto the porch, because it is too
fragile to withstand any kind of weather.
But, this was the first sunny and warm day we have had in
months, so I could not help myself and had to enjoy the
Spring day while I could.
Just me, Crafty Cat, and a moss pillow…
(oh and three munchkins playing in the yard behind me)
Crafty Cat did not stay around long – she had a little “grooming”
to take care of.
Thank you for letting me share my Mossy No Sew Pillow
with you. This project took me less than an hour
and truly was such a fun and different craft.
I hope you like it.
