Two words that every parent dreads

to hear…

”  School’s Out. “

πŸ˜€

For my sweet Grandson, school gets out next week.

That means Grammy will have her hands full

with three little ones during the day.

I cringe at the thought of them sitting in front

of a TV all day.  Being raised on a farm and

in the country – Summers meant time outdoors

and being adventurous,  even if it was just in

your own backyard.

I decided to do some research and find some

fun ideas we can explore together…

10-Ways to Keep Your Kids Entertained

This Summer

1) How  to  Make  Amazing  Bubbles

10-Ways to Keep Kids Entertained This Summer by The Everyday Home | www.everydayhomeblog.com

My Babies LOVE bubbles.

This is an almost year-round event around our home.

I can’t wait to try this idea by babysavers.com

2)  Sidewalk  Squirty  Paint

paint

Honestly, just the name of this sounds fun!

πŸ˜€

I can’t tell you how many hours we spend on the

sidewalk and parking pad, drawing faces and animals.

(well, at least I think they are animals)

I can’t wait for what fun ensues with this idea from

Growing a Jeweled Rose.

3)  Homemade  Water  Sprinkler

sprinkler

It’s the South.

It’s humid.

No, it’s HUMID.

So I know this DIY Water Sprinkler by

Housing a Forest will be

a blast to make and even more fun to play in.

4)  Sponge  Bombs

Need I say more?  πŸ˜€

by Inner Child Fun.

5)  DIY  Painted Caterpillar

caterpillar

This painted bug by Nellie Bellie is about the

cutest fella I have seen.  My Grandbabies love some

craft painting.  This is the perfect project!

6) Homemade Tossing Tarp

32-Of-The-Best-DIY-Backyard-Games-You-Will-Ever-Play3

Best idea I have ever seen using an inexpensive,

plastic tarp. From Spoonful.com

7) DIY Ring Toss Game

It’s like bringing the games of the County Fair

to your back yard.  But cheaper!  πŸ˜€

Get instructions at Mom Endeavors.

8) Make Homemade Bird Feeders

e9d1ce925b6abd372a64c31b599ed753

My Grandloves have fallen in love with feeding and

watching the birds.  We have to check the feeders

constantly to make sure the birds do not

go hungry.   I love this hands-on idea by

Growing a Jeweled Rose for making these

homemade bird feeders.

9 )  Squirt  Gun Painting

Squirt Gun Painting_thumb[1]

Some freezer paper, some watered down paint,

some Dollar Store water guns…

sounds like the perfect Summer activity to me.

Love this idea by 123Homeschool4me.

10)  DIY  Slip ‘n  Slide

32-Of-The-Best-DIY-Backyard-Games-You-Will-Ever-Play28

I saved the best for last.

It would take a little time to construct but

oh man would you be a HERO to your little ones!!!

Get the full how-to at Diary of a Preppy Mom.

I think this may help keep them busy for the first week.

I only need 458 more activities and I have it made.

;-D
