12 Recipes from The Everyday Home in 2015

I make no secret that I love to cook.

In fact, in 2015 not only did I try to commit to more

cooking and less eating out, I also committed to creating

more homemade products such as “Homemade Onion Mix”

and my own “Homemade Jiffy Cornbread Mix.”

2015 was trying – between my father’s health and taking

care of him, and my own poor health.  But, in the end as I look back –

my love of cooking and spending time in the kitchen has kept

me grounded and sane.

Well – semi sane.  🙂

Like I said, in 2015 I made a huge effort to recreate

common store-bought products you can purchase ready-made.

 My recipes were more budget-friendly and had less preservatives

and less of the ingredients that are hard to pronounce.

No. 1:  Homemade Onion Soup Mix

For the Summer Months I shared…

No. 3: Homemade Deli Style Chicken Salad

Full of dried cranberries and pecans and celery.  This is perfect,

by the way, for your leftover Thanksgiving and Christmas turkey. 

 

My grandkids devour this next recipe every Summer…

No. 4: Strawberry Cantaloupe Salsa

It’s sweet and slightly spicy, depending on how much

jalapeño you add.

 

One of our favorite side-dishes when we grill out is…

No. 5:  Farmhouse-Style Summer Succotash

 

And finally, another of our Summer faves….

No. 6: Iron Skillet Summer Tomato Pie

 

As the hot Summer months waned, and the weather cooled – I fixed

warm pots of bubbly soup and chili and…

No. 7: Homemade Southern Bacon-Cheddar Cornbread

***I used my Homemade Jiffy Cornbread Mix for this recipe.

 

To add a little kick to our diet, I whipped up this…

No. 8: Easy-Cheesy Mexi Chicken and Rice Skillet

This uses one of my favorite SO EASY Mexican Rice Recipes.

 

Finally, the holidays rolled around.  

On The Everyday Home’s menu was…

NO. 9:  Sticky Pudding Pumpkin Cake

Also for Fall… I made these –

No. 10:  Spiced Apple-Walnut Bread in a Jar

Then, in the blink of an eye – it was Christmas.

And this “Busy Girl” needed some quick and easy ideas. 

No. 11: Easy Chocolate Covered Peppermint Oreos

and finally….

No. 12: Orange-Cranberry Muffins in a Jar
