Two Ingredients.
Yes, two!!
Two simple ingredients and two simple steps to
one of the MOST amazing breads you’ve ever eaten.
Well, I digress.
Three ingredients and three steps if you want nuts.
I like nuts.
{I am often described as such.}
😀
The nuts are optional.
But, seriously….
while I was mixing up this Bread “recipe”
(and I use that term lightly) – I was thinking to myself,
“Self – there is no way this will work.
This bread is gonna be as moist and light as a Concrete Cupcake.”
I was sooooo wrong.
You simply have to try this…
Spiced Apple Walnut Bread…in a Jar!
I’m sure you have seen similar recipes on Pinterest.
One cake mix with one can of Pumpkin puree.
Well, my hubby and grandloves don’t really like pumpkin so much.
{I know – WHERE did I go so wrong?} 😀
So, I decided to make a substitution – not really
even sure if it would work out.
But boy, oh boy… did it ever!
So, get something to write all of these ingredients
down so you won’t forget an item when you walk run to
the grocery store.
One box of Spice Cake Mix.
One Can of Apple Pie Filling.
(opt) 1/2 Cup Nuts (any kind)
Yes, my little Minionettes.
I simply used a potato smasher to smash the apples in the filling…
Then, dumped all of the ingredients together.
That’s it.
Like I said, the mixture was super thick.
I was concerned the cake would be dense and dry.
It’s truly (cross my heart) one of THE best
breads I have ever tasted.
This recipe filled 10 small jars.
To be honest I really overfilled them.
I would use 12 small jars and only fill them about 2/3 full.
I whipped together a quick
Cream Cheese -Brown Sugar Frosting.
One Cup Cream Cheese, 1/4 Cup Sour Cream,
a few drops pure vanilla and 2 Tbs Brown Sugar.
You would not have to use Mason Jars.
You could use any baking dish or even a muffin pan.
But they are so darned cute in jars.
I baked these in a 400 degree oven for about 20 minutes.
**Definitely perform the “clean knife” test as all ovens vary
and type of baking container will vary also.
And since its #MasonJarMonday,
this could not be more perfect could it?
I am sending these along in the boys lunches, and also
sending one to their teachers.
Hey, a bribe never hurt anyone. 😀

Donna – sorry I need to add that. I set my oven on 400 degrees and for these size jars it took about 20 mins. Just do the clean knife test as all ovens and containers vary. Good luck. I know you will LOVE these. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by. ~Barb

Question: Is it not necessary to spray the jars or pans before filling and baking?
So looking forward to whipping these up!
View CommentBarb says
Yes, I sprayed the inside with a light coating of Baking spray. You could also use butter. 🙂
