DIY Farmhouse-Style Nest Basket
Hey The Everyday Home readers,
it’s Michelle from over at Dandelion Patina.
I will be sharing a simple & crafty farmhouse-style
inspired housewarming gift today.
I have been noticing quite a few homes in our
neighborhood going up for sale. People moving
out and people moving in. I am told Spring is the
season for the most home sales. All the ‘for sale’
signs have sparked my curiosity and I am finding
myself browsing all the homes for sale online.
I like to imagine how I would renovate and
decorate each home. And, I admit, I get a bit
antsy and want to find a new space to work
with, a new house to create a home.
I wonder about all those new people moving in &
not knowing anyone. I was thinking I should stop
over and introduce myself, say hello, and share
a housewarming gift with them. Maybe even bake
them some cookies! Boy, do I have to get busy making
a few more of these housewarming gifts!
So, for all of you who may have a new person,
new family in the neighborhood; get your DIY on
and craft up a few of these farmhouse-style
inspired housewarming gifts!
Here is how to create this housewarming gift
with true farmhouse style.
Supplies you will need:
Jiffy peat pots
Wooden letter beads
Nesting material-a mix of Spanish moss, reindeer moss, paper shavings
Feathers
Newspaper or decoupage tissue
Decorative Trim
Walnuts
Decoupage glue and Elmer’s glue
Scissors
Cut pieces of newspaper or decoupage tissue & glue on.
I really like the vintage feel of the typography paper.
Once your nesting material is selected and placed
you will need to embellish your pot.
Grab your walnuts and make your eggs with chalk paint.
Add your special touches. It is that simple.
Hope you enjoyed this tutorial on a farmhouse style
housewarming gift. Please stop over to the blog and
my latest project, IKEA Rast Chest Hack.

Thank you Dawn! I have been working on my photograhy! I just ordered a tripod from B&H. I can’t wait until it comes! I took a few classes from Shoot Fly Shoot and it is all clicking for me now. They do such a great job of teaching. I am so excited about it. Have a great week! -Michelle

Hi, Michelle ~ This is such a cute idea! I love the texture that the peat pot gives the project. We have a lot of people moving in and out of our neighborhood, too. It’s definitely that time of year. We’ve been in our house for almost eight years–the longest we’ve been in one place. I thought I’d be antsy, but there are still so many projects that I want to do around here! Of course, that doesn’t mean that I don’t dream about other houses. :0) Thanks for the great project!

Thank you so much Tiffany! We too have so many projects to tackle before we would ever think about moving again, but like you I dream of other houses too! Have a great rest of the week Tiffany! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! -Michelle
