Happy Weekend, my Everyday Friends.
I know I was gone all week… it appears I am having
some more major health issues at the moment.
I’m telling you, these health issues are getting in the
way of my blogging and its got to stop.
🙂
I will be gone for a few weeks while the
docs run a series of torture tests on me,
but I will be leaving you in some very
good hands with some amazing Guest Contributors
with projects like this fabulous
DIY Stenciled Burlap Memo Board .
Hey friends! It’s Kirsten from Sweet Tea & Saving Grace
back with you to share another simple and fun DIY project.
I’m kind of a sucker for burlap and love creating new ways
to use it in everyday decor. †Today, I want to show you how
to create a DIY Stenciled Burlap Memo Board!
You can make this project on the cheap, like I did.
I had all of the supplies on hand except the frame,
which I picked up at Goodwill for $3. Score!
(Don’t you love when that happens?!)
After scoring this awesome frame, I grabbed some burlap
fabric, paint, and decorative clothespins.
First, I took the glass out of the frame, and removed the
cardboard insert to use as a template for the burlap.
I cut a piece of burlap large enough to cover the cardboard
and wrap around the back.
For my memo board, I chose a pretty stencil pattern.
You can freehand a design, stamp polka dots, or write a
quote – whatever works for you!
I used navy blue acrylic paint to stencil my pattern onto
the center of my burlap, then used hot glue to attach
the burlap to the cardboard. Finally, I trimmed the excess
burlap before inserting it into the frame.
At the last minute, I decided to add yellow ribbon to
brighten up the dark frame. To make this simple ribbon,
create a loop and hot glue the ends together. Use a shorter
piece of ribbon to wrap around the center of the loop, then
hot glue in place. That creates your bow.
The long strands are two separate pieces of ribbon hot
glued to the frame, with the bow attached on top to hide
the edges.
The final step was adding the cute clothespin with hot glue.
And there you have it! I love that it looks like a cute piece
of art without anything on it.
I plan to use my memo board as a recipe card holder in
my kitchen. It’s perfect!
When I’m not using it to hold recipe cards, I can store it in
my entryway as a memo board, or add cute pictures that I
want to display. (Isn’t Daisy Mae so cute?!)
For another way to use burlap in your home decor, check
out my burlap wreath, which I leave up all year!
I simply change out the accents according to the season.
