I thought that every now and then, particularly on a Friday (haha)… I would share some of my Friday Favorites. This week, I am sharing 10-Ways to “Springy-fy” Your Home.
Just like Julie Andrews…“these are a few of my favorite things!” Sometimes it may be a theme, sometimes it may be just random likes. This week’s theme is #thinkspring
So let’s get started…
1) I Heart Forsythia
I can’t help it, when I #thinkspring – I think of two flowers. Tulips…and forsythia. My mama has forsythia bushes around her home, and I love to cut arm loads and add to clear jugs and vases, as shown above.
2) Tulips, Tulips, Tulips!
The great thing about tulips, they don’t care what container you put them in because they know they will be beautiful anyway. But, this chippy metal bucket sure is pretty, isn’t it?
3) Bird’s Nests
I figured out several years ago I have a Bird’s Nest Fetish. The only cure I know for this malady is to stick them anywhere and everywhere throughout your home. Check out my easy Bird’s Nest Tutorial for making your own budget-friendly version.
4) Fashion Spring Forward
{outfit from Chico’s}
Now that I have reached 50, I am all about comfort. But, of course I want to still be fashionable, too. The length of my shorts have lowered, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be paired with a bright shirt combo in a Springy color.
5) Start a Herb Garden
The ground may still be frozen and covered in snow in much of the country, but Spring is just around the corner and that means one thing —-> Gardens! I adore the idea of recycling egg shells to start herb garden seedlings.
6) Spring Asparagus Tart
{from Five Heart Home}
When we lived in Brussels, fresh asparagus (especially the beloved white asparagus) signified the arrival of Spring. Asparagus is in my Top 5 Fave Veggie list. I especially love to create rustic tarts like this one above, with ham and cheese and mushrooms.
7) Spring Plantings
Just as soon as the early Spring suns casts its warmth upon our front porch, I am hankering to pull out the baskets and buckets and planters. Tulips and buttercups and candytuft and primrose. Spring cabbages and pansies and violas. Oh my!
Here is my Spring Front Porch Tour from several years ago.
8) Spring Wreaths
{via the everyday home}
This time of year, I look forward to adding some color back into our home after a palette of white for Winter decorating. This Spring “Basket” Wreath is the perfect example of thinking outside of the grapevine form.
See the complete Tutorial HERE.
10) Spring Kid’s Idea
{from Learn. Play. Imagine.}
My grandloves are Playdoh nuts! They will spend hours and hours making shapes and cut-outs. So when I saw this lemon-scented Playdough recipe, I knew I had to make some. Because while they may love to play with it, this Grammy cannot stand to smell it. This lemon scent will be sooooo much better and “Springy-er.”
