Homemade Rosemary and Lemon Salt Scrub
Having smooth skin is easy, especially when you use a salt scrub. You can create this recipe utilizing some very basic products in your home – epsom salt, coconut oil and a few fresh herbs. This DIY Salt Scrub is a great combative for dry skin, is easy to make and has healing qualities too.
……………………………………………………………
I have dry skin!
I do! I didn’t always but then everything changed several years ago. And it was an extreme change. I swear there are days when I put on lotion that you can put your ear up to my skin and can hear slurping noises. 🙂
I put lotion on at least twice a day – once when I’m dressing in the morning and again at night after my shower. Y’all know I suffer from auto immunes. That said, I am very particular about the products I put on my skin. So several months ago I made my own Sea Salt Body Scrub after looking at the ingredients list on a popular large bath and body retail store products. Eek! It was chemical laden.
Once I made my own scrub I truly had one of those…”you big dummy” face slap moments.
I mean – really! That’s all there is to making this? Now I am in a Salt Scrub frenzy – trying out lots of different aromas and varieties. I know some people use sugar as the base. But, I figured I am sweet enough already. (no comments please – ha!)
I decided to use epsom salt because I am constantly amazed at all of the many uses of this ordinary product. I have also been reading about dry scrubbing in an effort to heal my adrenals naturally. I decided to add some fresh rosemary and rosemary oil because it is a natural remedy for common aches and pains. Finally, I added lemon for the citrus aroma but also because lemon has a myriad of healthy uses, too.
The base of this scrub is Coconut Oil.
I know – coconut oil is all the rage but it’s truly such a remarkable product. It also gives my scrub a slight creamy consistency that makes it easier to apply.
To apply, I stand on a bath mat and add small dollops of the scrub onto a loofah or wash cloth and lightly scrub from top to bottom. I pay a little extra attention to my heels and elbows, because – they’re heels and elbows. 😀 Then, I hop into a warm shower and rinse off.
*Be careful, you’re shower floor may become slick because of the coconut oil after time.
What You Will Need:
These are my absolute fave French glass jars with hinged lids.
- Le Parfait French Wide Mouth Jars
- I use these mini wood scoops and attach them to the jars with twine.
- 100% Pure Therapeutic Rosemary Oil
- Epsom Salts
- Epson Salt and Israeli Dead Sea Salt Mixture
- Exfoliating Loofah Pads
Positive Affects of a Body Scrub:
- It makes your skin glow.
- It exfoliates your skin.
- It increases blood circulation.
- It improves cellulite.
- It helps with aging skin.
- 2 Cups Organic Coconut Oil
- 1 Cup Epson Salts
- Approx 15-20 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil
- Approx 1 Tablespoon finely chopped fresh Rosemary
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- Mix the oil and the salts and mix well. Add the essential oil, fresh chopped rosemary and lemon juice. Store in an airtight glass jar.
There you go! I told you it was easy!
This Body Scrub will soften your skin, give you the healing qualities of magnesium from the Epson salts, and leave you feeling refreshed with the citrus aroma. My skin has never been softer and more hydrated looking. If you make this, I would love to hear your feedback! xxoo, Barb

I have just started my journey with essential oils I bought a kit and it doesn’t provide a single recipe. I have Sjogrens Syndrome and I hate the dry skin and all that comes with auto immune. Thank you for the salt scrub i will definitely try it.

Definitely do some reserach into using oils for your auto immune. They have not cured me, but they help relieve some of my symptoms. Good luck.

Wow, what an easy recipe. And as you know to buy salt scrubs you are paying the big buck. I bet the aroma of the rosemary and lemon is heavenly. Pinned so I can make it.

Sea Salt is soooo expensive you are right. The Epsom salts are really better for you because of the magnesium. Hope you get a chance to make this, 🙂

I could use some of this right now. I am so parched from this heatwave that doesn’t want to go away!

Ours heatwave has broken – for now. Thank goodness. It puts my auto immunes in overdrive.

Thanks Sandi, so glad you like visiting here. Yes I love rosemary. I had a large overgrown bush, well it was closer to a shrub it was so big – and we had to cut it down and I miss it. Hope you get to try this out.
