To share or not to share.
That is what I had to ask myself about our formal
Living Room. {Soon to be Library.}
It’s nowhere completed. As you will see the “Library”
part seems to be missing. 🙂
There are two new, navy chairs.
{love by the way)
And some new “too short” window panels.
Oh, and a new paint color.
But, that’s about it.
Then…there were the bad pics to consider.
Pictures taken during days of rain and overcast skies.
Then I thought – well, it’s Christmas. The season of sharing.
Even unfinished, badly photographed rooms. ha!
Formal Living Room for Christmas
The decision to throw this room together came out of
necessity. And the fact that there were no doors to close it behind.
😀
I don’t know about you – but a room at the very front of the house,
next to the foyer – should probably not look like a bomb shelter
when Christmas Party guests arrive.
So – on went a new paint color, an order for two new chairs
was placed, new panels were hung – and we were off.

This is the part where I apologize again for the photography.
This is the hardest room in the entire home to photograph.
Too much light in the mornings and not enough light in
the afternoons. Finicky room.

But, here we are. So we’ll make the best of it. 🙂
Can I just say how much I LOVE these chairs. (again!)
They are a deep navy and have a gorgeous nail-head trim feature.

I love my white sweater pillows with houndstooth ribbon on them.
It’s the juxtaposition of the navy and black that I like.

I added a vintage, round table between them.
This table has so much sentimental value to me.
It’s the first antique my Mama gave me when I turned 18.

My beloved drop-down bowfront desk is back in place,
with my hubby’s late Aunt’s self-portrait above.

The top is simply accessorized with an ironstone pitcher full of greenery
and berries, vintage books with family letters written during WW2,
and some vintage spectacles.

My hubby’s grandmother’s English hutch, the pride of the
room, is embellished with a full garland of white lights,
berries and a very handsome fella.

This is a little blingy-er than I normally like –
but there was something about his “sparkling personality”
that attracted me.
😀

He’s so handsome.
What I love best about this room is the glow it takes on at night.
Especially at dusk.
And ironically, outside this very window is where I watch
our nightly gathering of bucks and does passing through
our front yard.

I can’t wait until this space officially becomes our
Library. Where we can finally display our collection of
books. My hubby is excited to also have his vintage chess
set sitting out, too.

He thinks he can teach me to play chess.
Well, he did mention something about a “Queen.”
Sounds like my kind of game.
😀
Thanks for letting me share our Living Room.
