My Mama thinks I was switched at birth.
Or at the very least, I didn’t inherit all of her genes. Born in the South, I have lived literally 15-minutes away from several beaches for most of my life. I should be a flip-flop wearing, beach-going Summer-lovin’ kinda gal, right? Well, I do love me some good flips, but that’s about as far as it goes. Somewhere along the way, I discovered that I much rather loved the mountains – and the cold. I can see my sweet and perplexed Mama shaking her head now. 😀 It only took a whopping 10-minutes to cozy up this space.
Cozy Home Decor
……………………………………………..
I think the reason I love colder weather is that I love sweaters and boots and cozy throws and fireplaces. I feel “warmed” in many ways by the elements of Winter. {Plus, if you have an auto-immune – you know what the heat does to you. 🙂 } This Winter, my Cozy Winter Decor consists of smaller projects which only took about 10-minutes to complete.
The front Living Room, which will (hopefully) soon be turned into our Library, was extremely plain after all the Christmas decor came down. I knew this was a good place to start when adding some “Cozy.”
I pulled out my Faux Fur throw and velvet, button pillows. They were the perfect sized pillows for our new navy chairs. On the round table – I kept it simple.
A white lantern, a set of antlers, and a basket of plants. This time of year, my soul longs for greenery and something alive. Maybe because it’s cold outside, I don’t know. But I love small baskets of greenery here and there. It doesn’t cost much. These $4/ea plants from Lowe’s were popped into a woven basket in less than 5 minutes.
On the English hutch, I added a white Farmhouse Style Pitcher and filled it with snow-covered branches and large sugar pinecones.
Finally, I added even more pillows and vintage crochet throw to my antique French Laundry Basket.
I may have spent 10-minutes adding these Cozy Winter Decor elements to this room. Ok, maybe 15 minutes max. :-D The only thing I spent money on were the plants.

Here are some of the elements I used:

Yes, I too love the cold weather, but I am a Newyorker anyway. I miss winter now that I live in Cuenca-Ecuador, but thank goodness this is the Andes and the weather is quite chilly, sometimes very cold even, indeed.
View CommentThe elements you’ve used to create such warm and cozy vignettes are perfect and so pretty. I love your white throw idea too.
Have a cozy weekend.

LUV!! I too amped up the pillows and throws to make it cozy . But I kept all the plants in the sunroom. Will have to get some for the living room. Luv the little bit of live green.

I live in California but I do love the cold because I come from the Northern states. Love your simple but elegant style.

Love your cozy touches, Barb. Especially the basket on the floor with pillows. I wish I could do that in my house, but the kitties would make it their personal bed and fur would get all over the pretty pillows. Sigh. I should be your mama’s daughter because I love the heat and the beach! 😉

I think you must have been switched at birth too – LOL! I can’t imagine loving the cold – give me the beach the ocean and flip-flops any day! It’s good we are all made different though – cause the beach would be terribly crowded if no one loved the mountains! Your home looks great – very cozy and happy!

I love all the cozy elements you added to this room, Barb! Everything looks lovely but snuggle-worthy. Just give me a warm drink, a good book, and my reading glasses!
I for one would love to know how you made those snow-covered pinecones. Please do share your secret!
