Laundry.
It’s not a four letter word, but some days I really
think it should be.
There are few things I hate to do worse when
it comes to household choirs.
Sort. Wash. Dry. Fold. Put Away.
Repeat.
And, repeat again.
And again.
But, I have found a few secrets that help
make the task easier, and helps me achieve
better results.
Here are…
Five Easy Laundry Tips
I always thought that once school was out,
the laundry should slow down some.
Who am I kidding.
I think it triples.
Towels, bathing suits, sweaty shirts….
and more towels.
I know its common sense, but being
organized is really the TOP key to staying up
on laundry.
Tip #1: Be Organized!!!!

Every family is different.
You have to find a system that works best for you.
My three grandchildren are not quite old enough
to understand “Whites, Lights and Darks.”
But, even my 3-year old Granddaughter
understands “her drawer.”
A laundry hamper like the one above allows
each child to have their own space where they
know to deposit their dirty laundry.
You could even make your own Laundry Hampers
which are color coordinated, like these from
Tip #2: Maintaining a Schedule
No. Not this schedule.
A REAL laundry schedule.
😀
I used to poo-poo at the idea of a laundry “schedule.”
“Just do a few loads a day and it would get done.”
But, with a schedule, I was better able
to organize the laundry sorting and keep me on task.
This schedule by Classy Clutter is the
perfect example of a great laundry schedule.
It’s not for everyone, but give it a try one week and
see if it helps you stay on top of the dirty piles.
Tip #3: Multi-Tasking
Huh?
Aren’t we talking laundry?
Yes, but you just aren’t going to sit around and
read a magazine, watching the suds swirl ’round
and ’round while eating a double-fudge cupcake with
an extra tall glass of red wine.
Ok, maybe you WANT to, but you can’t.
😀
I usually do laundry at two separate times of
the day. Either while I am fixing breakfast, or while
I am fixing dinner. If I didn’t finish after
breakfast, I will finish during dinner.
I am usually doing at least 2 other tasks in the process.
To me, it makes me feel that laundry gets done
while performing other tasks.
Tip #4: Keep Your Washer and Dryer
Clean and Well -Maintained
I have a secret.
Okay, not a secret, but, a well-meaning suggestion.
Keep your washing machine and dryer, especially
the front end loaders, clean and properly
maintained. You can be as highly organized and
functional as can be, but machines that are not
in good working order will under perform
and also cause wear and tear on their lifetime.
Better Homes and Gardens offers this great
article on Cleaning Your Washing Machine
It’s equally important for safety reasons to keep your
dryer clean and maintained, as well.
All dryers are different, so please refer to your
Operating Manual. But, here are some
great tips by Clean and Scentsible for
Cleaning Your Dryer.
Just one more thing, we have the dryer vents
professionally cleaned in the Spring when we have
our carpets cleaned. Sadly, there are lots of
house fires that start from a build up of lint, etc,
in your vents.
You can even do-it-yourself, if you like,
versus paying to have it done.
The Suburban Mom shows you how.
Tip #5: Laundry Products
Laundry Products really are like art in some ways.
What is subjective to you and your family, may not
work for another family.
My son actually has to be very careful of the
products he uses because of skin sensitivities.
Some people even prefer to make their own
laundry products. But, that is not always a feasible
option for everyone. The key is to find products
that work best for you and your family’s needs.
I don’t believe you have to get super fancy or buy
the most expensive line of laundry products
on the market, either.
*** Barb’s Tip ***
I rarely coupon, but the few products I do use coupons
for are laundry products. I always have 2-3 bottles of
laundry products on-hand at all times. There is nothing worse
than being “on a roll” when you’re doing your laundry,
and realize you are out of detergent! Stock up!
So, that is my Five Easy Laundry Tips to keep in mind.
Laundry really isn’t rocket science.
It isn’t a four letter word either, unless you
realize you missed that purple crayon in
your grandson’s pant’s pocket.

fighting clean I need to look my best and having one
product that cleans, brightens and fights stains in each
load makes doing laundry so much easier.
But, like with any household cleaning
product …
It’s important to keep laundry products Up, Up and Away –
seal pacs up – store pacs up – keep pacs
away from your kids.
