Florida.
Pensacola to be exact. If you are reading this right now, just wanted you to know this is where I am at the moment. Woot!
C’mon now, don’t hate. 🙂 I promise to share pictures soon.
It’s been a while since I have posted a Yay or Nay Thursday. Recently, one of my Everyday Home friends asked me if I would post about a specific question for her. I was only happy to oblige.
In fact, if anyone ever wants to suggest a
Yay or Nay Thursday post for me, just email
me and I would be happy to work it in.
Her question?
I have to admit I do love this color, although
I don’t have a lot of it in my home. I added a touch of aqua to my Guest Bath for an
unexpected splash of color to a brown
and white color palette.
Remember the Seashell and Sea glass
Ruffled Burlap Lampshade I made for this room?
So you see, you don’t need an all-over aqua room to enjoy the color. Just punches of this color here and there can wake up a room and add some great interest to any space.

I say YAY – all in caps! I love aqua. I sure do hope it’ll be in vogue for a while as I am using it as one the main colors in a guestroom that I’m redoing. Hope you have a blast in FLLL!

I say “yay”. I like it better as an accent color than a wall color but to each his own.

While I like aqua I think it is the “color” of the moment and will probably pass within a couple of years. It has, statistically, come and gone over the years. I remember it was very popular in the early 70’s in the South. I do love to see pops of it though…and I think it will always be popular here and there in the tropical states. xo Daina

I love adding pops of turquoise but not brave enough to paint a room. I also love the golf of Mexico, we have a place in Destin!

I love aqua as an accent color and am using it in several rooms right now. I do think its popularity will pass … decorating is always changing (how else would companies sell new stuff all the time?!) By using it as an accent, I’m not investing too much money, and hopefully the accent pieces will work with the next “color of the day.”

After decorating our house for 25 years, it seems like every color comes and goes. I say don’t worry about it and just go for it. Yay from me. 🙂

I have some 75+ yr old aqua mason ball jars that belonged to my great-grandmother…so the color has been used on and off over the years. Plus, I’ve had aqua “pops” of color in my home for the last 20+ years. My basement family room’s walls are a BRIGHT aqua. I’m thinking it’s a pretty steadfast color of choice. So I’m going with “YAY”! I’m not one much for “fad” colors, I pick and choose on what I like and can live with my decision for a long time. If you like it, if it makes you feel good, use it, regardless of what others say. For instance, I don’t like orange or purple and will never, ever use them, whether they are considered “in” or not. And aqua will ALWAYS be found in my home…it just makes me smile and that’s what is important.

I adore it as an accent color but like everything else, it will probably change in time. If we were satisfied with everything, what on earth would we do with our time?

Acqual/turquoise was a fad color about 5-6 years ago, first people were pairing it with zebra and hot pinks, then it went to browns. But, with any fad, there are those that liked it and used it before the fad and will continue to use it as they did before. What makes any color or trend seem like a fad is the overuse of it, or the all-of-the sudden use in one’s home when it was never used or liked before. IMHO! Personally I love touches of blues any blue for that matter and I have had it in my master bathroom for a very long time and will continue having it there, mixed with whites and creams, timeless, for me, faddish for others, Kathysue

I love aqua, I guess I’m a mermaid at heart. I don’t use a lot of it in my home, but accent with aqua especially in the summertime when I decorate with a coastal look. I also use aqua as an accent in our master bath. I think it’s here for a while.

I’ve got a little bit of aqua in each room of my house, and the walls of my bathroom are painted pale aqua. My bedspread is aqua and white, I’ve got a Chippendale chair in the living room that I reupholstered with an aqua-based tapestry fabric, some pillows and candles in the family room, and I’m about to paint the back wall of my glass-fronted kitchen cabinet very pale aqua to show off my collection of blue and white china. I say yay!

Yay!! It’s a wonderful accent color. I’m using it in several areas of my home, and loving it. I hope it stays around for a long time.
