This week, I wanna share with you some artwork I purchased over the three years I traveled back and forth to England. There was one particular flea market I loved…and it was within walking distance from the B&B we generally stayed in. It was a flea market called Portobello Road Market. It’s a beautiful street lined with wonderful antique and brocante stores, various shoppes and pubs. I would spend hours and hours on this all-day Saturday market.
But, like most fleas – if you didn’t arrive with the birds – the best “worms” were all taken.
Aside from all the shops which lined the streets, there were street vendors of every imaginable kind – from fresh farm-baked breads and homegrown herbs and vegetables to wonderful cheeses….
…to all sorts of interesting goodies.
Aside from its wonderful market which has been in existence before America was even a county, it is famous for its very well-known one time residents. The Beatles were known to have taken residence for a while on Portobello Road. Let’s not forget one of my all-time favorite movies…Notting Hill…w/ Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts – was filmed on location, as well.
1) Vintage Chair Prints
In my Morning Room, I have four prints which feature four different chairs. I love chairs. I love a room that is filled with an assortment of mix-matched chairs.
Here are two hung vertically…
The Gold Chair…
…and my fave print (and chair) – The Chintz Chair
2) Vintage Culinary Prints
I loved these vintage prints because I love all things “cooking” and “entertaining.”
The one below features an assortment of cake plates and serving pieces.
The second features wine decanters, stemware and pitchers.
So that is a few things that are On My Wall.
I hope you enjoyed seeing them, and also I hope you enjoy seeing all the

BArb, I am so excited to see my little guy,and I have the perfect name for him, I will share when I post his pic…I envy you a little with all of your travels, I was just telling my husband that i WILL get to Europe ,in the next few years. My daughter has been and would love to go back, so since the hubs said he really has no desire I am thinking a girls trip with my daughter, sister, and niece. Can’t wait, and I will be getting your advice on European travel, since you are the resident expert! Finally just a quick check in on Mr Grits, how are things? ANd as far as me, my surgery went great, now i am just dealing with the boredom factor, lol. Sue

I love the prints you found in the London flea market! Great finds. This is the first time I’m participating in the meme but it’s fun so I know I’ll be back.

I would love to go to a flea market in Europe. When we were in Europe we were in a tour group so we didn’t have time. I’d love to go back someday & only go to flea markets. That would be fabulous. Your artwork is fabulous as well. I really like the cigar labels. Thanks for hosting this fun weekly event.

Hi Barb,
Love those chair pics! I too have a weakness for chairs – my mother-in-law used to refer to such things as “just a little odd piece”. I miss her. About ten years ago, I went to London at Christmastime with some girlfriends from church, but we were not there on a Saturday, so we missed Portobello Road. I was completely bummed. We did get to visit the Covent Garden market, though, which was fun.
Have a blessed day, and thanks for hosting!
