After a day and a half journey into the Atlantic, we saw a glimpse of a tiny island in the distance. As we neared, it looked as if the Captain was going to run that hunking piece of steel right onto land. We did not see a single docking area anywhere. As the ship moved in closer to the island, we realized that he was going to maneuver the ship into the small cove you see above. If you look at everyone’s hair, it was an extremely windy day. We were all mesmerized that he could so effortlessly steer that large ship into a small space without the aid of tugs.
This is a picture of the magnificent homes that dot the coast. We were told that it is law that all roofs be painted white. The reason is that it is imperative that they collect rainwater runoff. I had always seen pictures of Bermuda with its famous pastel-painted homes, and wondered if the real thing would be as pretty. I was not disappointed. Pictures do not do the landscapes any justice.
Another gorgeous view of the coastline. This shot was taken from the back of the ship.
St. Peter’s Church – built in 1713. Interior photographs were discouraged, but it was a peaceful and serene place lit solely by candles.
Here I am – sporting a pair of Bermuda shorts -outside the center square of the fort. (Seeing this pic again reminds me why I never wear Bermuda shorts! LOL)
This is a shot of the ship just as the sun was going down.
So in the next few days, as the temperatures drop for many of us – I might come back to these pics and think happy, warm thoughts. I hope you enjoyed your visit to Bermuda.

Thanks for the beautiful tour! The water is gorgeous, and those old buildings just whisper so many stories. What a great mid winter pick me up, thanks! Kathy (BTW, loved your comment about eye rolls, hubby and fridge – he went into a serious depression when it got moved back into the kitchen lol)
