I think that God has a gentle way of giving you a GOOD, HARD slap when you are feeling sorry for yourself for no reason at all. I have been incredibly busy this week with work. Yes, work. As most of you know I am a Real Estate Agent. I am blessed to live around a large military base. For the most part, we have not suffered the same real estate losses, nor have we felt the effects of a slowing economy. Poor, poor me right?
So, why have I been having this personal pity party all week? Because I am swamped at work with Buyers and Sellers. Because I have not had time to tablescape and blog this week as I wanted to. Because my workout schedule has been interupted several times this week. Because my toenail polish is already chipping off…and any other pathetic excuse I could find.
Then earlier tonight…I got this email. After I read it – I literally cried like a baby, got down on my knees and said…All I can say is….Thank you Lord. I get it!
I hope this makes your week better, too!

We all need that “slap” every once in a while Barb. Thanks so much for sharing that with us. And please tell your son and daughter in law thank you for their service and sacrifice. I know most of us Americans don’t show it enough, but we do care and appreciate them. And all of the family it effects (you included).

Barb, Thanks for this. I am always worried about my daughter living away from home, and feeling sorry for myself that she isnt here but at least she is not in danger everyday like so many of our soldiers are and she can jump on a plane and come home whenever she wants. Thanks for the reminder call!!
View CommentI have always wanted to become a realtor but figured with this economy I shouldnt bother, maybe I should get my license and move down there and help YOU!! LOL. That would be a great time!
Have a great weekend, and dont forget to take the time to smell the roses! Sue

Thanks for this very thoughtful post, Barb. I, too, feel sorry for myself sometimes, but it’s good to take a step back and think about what others are going through. Then your problems don’t seem so bad.

I too recieved this from several folks this week and each time I set and cried like a baby. It is so easy to take life for granted, untill you realize what a special treat it is for these boys to wake up every morning and know they are still able to take another breath.

Very touched by your post. I am married to an American soldier. Grateful he has not had to leave our family to war. Regardless…I am very grateful for his service and that he shows so much love for our country and unselfishly would do whatever was asked of him. Thank you for reminding us all the support we should show our military. We would not have the freedom we have without their sacrifice.
Hugs,
