Hi My Everyday Friends…
it’s Wednesday and that means its time for a post
from The Everyday Home Creative Team.

Let’s get going…

Hey y’all!
I’m Kirsten, blogger at Sweet Tea & Saving Grace,
and I’m pleased as punch to be the monthly
craft contributor here on The Everyday Home!
Today, I’m excited to share a project with you
that will help you take some of those photos off
of your phone and display them proudly in your home!
Let’s make a
DIY Family Name Photo Collage Art piece!
I love taking pictures of my family, and the phone
that I always have with me is the one on my phone,
but I rarely take the photos off of my phone.
I was trying to find a fun way to incorporate some
of my photos into a fun piece of art to hang in
our home, so, the randomness of my brain
created this! Want to make one?
You know you do, so let’s go!
Head to your local craft store and pick up a
laser-cut frame and a piece of foam board.
On the back of the foam board, trace the inside
of the frame, then cut around it, leaving about
1/4″ – 1/2″ of space.
Take your frame out to the garage, give it a good
coat of spray paint, then come back in to play with
pictures while it dries.
Now, head over to Picmonkey, or open a new
Word doc, and add the†letter for your last name,
making it fit to the size of the page, then print it out.
This will be your template for your photo collage.
Move some of your favorite photos off of your phone
and onto your computer. Then, open Word and add
those photos. I sized mine down to 2″ x 2″.
Print on cardstock, then cut apart.
Next, cut out your giant letter, saving the outline,
rather than the letter.
Grab a piece of cardstock, then lay your template on
top and use washi tape to attach the two.
Next, start layering your photos under the template
until you get them to your liking.
Think of it like a puzzle.
Once you find the perfect placement, carefully
begin gluing them down with a glue stick until
they’re all glued down, then cut out your picture letter.
I decided to throw my letter through my laminator
just to seal in the photos, but it’s not
completely necessary.
Almost done!
I used my Silhouette machine to cut out our
last name and the year we were married in vinyl.
If you don’t have this option, you can use letter stencils
and a black Sharpie for a similar effect.
Finally, use your hot glue gun to attach the foam
board to your laser cut frame, and to attach the
laminated letter to the foam board.
Done!

Thanks Kirsten, I LOVE it. I have a ton of
family pictures I would love to do this for.
This would make a fabulous Anniversary Gift, too!
Please join me this Friday for a
Southern Bacon and Cheddar
Cornbread Recipe.
Did you happen to catch my
Cornbread Mix last week.
This is one of my family’s fave cornbreads
and goes great with my
“Clean Out the Fridge” Taco Soup.
Yum!

This is so awesome! It’s personal yet trendy. I think I’ll make one of these for my family. We have NOTHING with our name on it or any pictures with us all together ~ mom fail but this may be my New Year resolution….family picture and collage. Thanks for the inspiration, Kirsten.
