Last week my husband and I went to Biloxi
for a few days.
It was a nice little get-away, and I think I
recorded a personal record for eating the most
snow crab legs and boiled shrimp.
Oh my. 🙂
You know that I am like American Express – I never
leave home with “it.” My camera, that is.
We stayed at The Beau Rivage.
Can I hear another “Oh my” from the congregation.
It was a beautiful resort and we can’t wait to go back.
Let’s start with a little peak inside…
This particular area lead to small shops and cafes which dotted
each side of the aisle. The carpeting acted as a
curvy “street” which was framed on each side by
gorgeous plantings.
It never felt as if you were inside.
There were several shops, offering everything from Cartier Watches to cookbooks by one of my favorite authors…
I double-triple dog dare you not to laugh at these guys…
This shop offered some unique collections –
I was especially attracted to this small painted table.
But with a purchase price of $3800, I decided I should
wait until I hit that major Jackpot. 🙂
I LOVE this chair!
I so wanted to adjust and poof the pillows to get a better pic,
but frankly the petit blonde saleslady who was dripping in faux
sparklies was looking down her nose at me, so I snapped
a shot and scadoodled out. 🙂
Such a cute collection above.
But, when I saw these, I immediately thought of my
dear friend Kathysue at Good Life of Design.
Just outside these shops, there was one of the most
beautiful mosaic floors in a circular floral design.
Can you imagine this masterful work of art being under
several feet of water in the aftermaths of
Hurricane Katrina?
These pictures do not do this floor justice. The mosaics sparkled
almost as much as the faux sparklies on that saleslady’s neck.
(heehee)
In fact, I was told this whole first floor was
completely under water.
I loved this ceiling…
Look at all of the architectural details.
This black marble floor looks like water, doesn’t it?
I loved this area. Like something you would
see in a ritzy Southern garden. This is where I could
run right in and purchase myself a Rolex or Cartier Watch,
if I so wanted.
Oh, and I so wanted. Not so much The Hubbs. 🙂
These next pics are poor quality, I just could
not get good shots.
Take note of the three large “chandeliers” in this restaurant.
Its made of copper cookware!
Hundreds and hundreds of pieces.
These were salvaged and cleaned and re-hung after Katrina.
In between storms, I did manage to get outside a bit and snap
a few pics of the grounds, which were equally as beautiful
…. and Southern!
And I surely could not call myself a true Blogger
if I did not take pics of our room, right? 😉
I loved the wooden cornice canopy.
Here is our room at night….just lovely!
And I love it when you run across a particular space which
allows you to visualize an area within your
home with more ease.
My husband and I have been debating for YEARS
what we can and cannot fit into our Master Bath
when we ever get around to the full renovation.
I say we can fit more in there than The Hubbs thinks.
He said I was being too ambitious.
(who me?)
This hotel bathroom proved him wrong! And
while he did not actually admit he was wrong, just the
fact that he hinted thatI “may” be right was victory enough.
(and you ladies know exactly what I am talking about!)
🙂
Again, excuse the lighting and my pile of hair products
on the vanity.
I LOVE this floor!
The Hubbs didn’t think we could easily fit both a
decent-sized tub and a shower in our bathroom.
This smaller-than-ours bathroom proved him wrong.
Thank you, Beau Rivage – for not only the free flights and
room, but for allowing me to say “I Told You So!”
Thanks for coming along with me on this little tour of
The Beau Rivage in Biloxi.
I wanted to leave you with a pic of the cute little
magnet I bought….
So true! So True!

Barb, thanks for the review of the hotel and shops. I’m headed to Gulfport/Biloxi at the end of the month and hopefully I can do a little window shopping at the stores too.

As Bob Hope would say “thanks for the memories”! We’ve been to the Beau many, many times and I never get tired of seeing how beautiful it is, inside and out. After Katrina, we didn’t go for a couple of years, but we were so glad when they reopened. We were told the water came up to the level of the marquee outside (I think at about the 4th floor level of the hotel). Everything about the Beau, the shops, the food, the rooms, the “lobby” is wonderful. I believe I need to make another trip real soon!

OMGOSH!!! I want to go there. That is not a get-away-that is an Experience! I love it and it looks like you had fun. What? You didn’t want to spend $4,000+ (gotta add tax, you know) on that sweet little piece? Seriously? I don’t know how you have left without it. And, I am disappointed that you didn’t get a picture of SnootySales for the blog. Everything else I loved! xo Diana

Hi, Barb
View CommentThanks for this wonderful tour. I am getting to go to Biloxi this Friday in fact, but I don’t get to stay at the beautiful Beau Rivage, although I have seen it. The pics are wonderful.
What a pretty room you had!
