Healthy Green Bean Recipe {Tasty Tuesday}

“Green beans again?”

This is what I heard last week when The
Hubbs walked in and saw what I was making
for dinner.

I smiled because I did not remember him
giving me a reply back when I asked him
what he wanted for dinner.  (do they ever?)

The Hubbs and I are full-force ahead with a
Low-Card diet.  Primarily because I have been dealing with a Wheat Allergy for several years
and in the past few months, it has really reared
its ugly head.

“Yep….green beans again. But I promise – you
will like these.”

He gave me an “okay- if you say so” kinda look and walked away.

I’m sure you may even be asking yourself
“just how many recipes are out there for green beans?“

I cannot possibly imagine.

Green Bean Casserole.

Green Bean Almondine.

French Fried Green Beans.

I’m pretty sure it’s the most commonly prepared veggie at the American dinner table.

Then, it got me to thinking.  Aren’t green beans like the average human being?

(What?  Has Barb lost her mind?)

Think about it.  We are just like green beans. Green beans pretty much look and taste the
same.  Humans all basically look alike.
Eyes, ears, mouths, arms, legs.

But, we try to add a few extra “ingredients” to make us look different from each other.

Makeup, jewelry, tattoos, fake boobs.  (for those who like BIG beans!)   hahaha  😀

Yes, there are some who come across as the
basic  “Green Bean Casserole” or “Green Bean Almondine.”  It’s easy to stick with the
same-ole/same ole’ when it comes to fashion and looks.
(she says as she tries to remember when she last changed her
hair style)  :-/

But the majority of us try to add some different “ingredients” and create a look that sets us part from others.  In other words, we try to create our own style.

Now- I’m not saying there is anything wrong with

looking like your basic “Green Bean Casserole.”
We can’t all look like beautiful and elegant
“snow peas” now can we?  🙂

So we experiment. We try new products.  We pin Beauty and Health Ideas on Pinterest and promise ourselves we will try to add that to our beauty regime.

Some ideas and products work.  Some fail majorly.  As in “oh-my-word-what-was-I- thinking” kinda fail!  :-O

But when we do meet success –   we end up looking like a “dressed-up, knock-your taste-buds-out” kinda green bean – that your loving husband adores and devours.  🙂

Beause inside, there is a gourmet Green Bean waiting to come out in all of us.  We are just waiting on the perfect Grilled Asian Salmon occasion to present ourselves.  🙂

As part of my new Blogging “Schedule” –
(eeek that sounds scary!)
I will be sharing recipes and “experiments” from
The Everyday Home Kitchen each Tuesday.

I have cleverly dubbed it Tasty Tuesday!

I won’t always compare myself to green beans.  Next week, I will resemble a cocktail.  😀

Ginger-Sesame Green Beans
Ingredients:
(1) Bag Steamer-style Green Beans
*(cooked about 1 minute less than suggested)
(2) cloves garlic, minced   (1) tomato – cut into 1″ chunks
(2) Tbs ground fresh ginger
*(I love the products shown by Gourmet Garden.
I get mine at Walmart.)
(1) Tsp Basil    (3) Tbs Fish Sauce    Pepper
(2) tsp Olive Oil   White Sesame Seeds
(opt) Black Sesame Seeds

In a pan set on medium heat – heat olive oil and add garlic.
Allow garlic to cook until slightly translucent. Do not allow the garlic to burn as it will taste bitter.
Add pre-cooked green beans and chopped tomato.
Stir well.  Add Fish Sauce, Basil and Ginger.
Stir well and turn heat to low.
When tomato is cooked and softened, add pepper to taste.
Serve on a platter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
(* you can toast the seeds for an added boost of flavor by
adding seeds to a dry pan on low heat for about 2-3 mins.)

Serve warm.  Perfect with grilled salmon or chicken.

Enjoy!

Cute post and this looks and sounds fabulous. I try and do different things with green beans too. It is half the fun of cooking.
