” Easter Egg Bark Candy “

I have never been a candy maker.

I see these great candy ideas on Pinterest and think…

“I can do that!”

Then, I start reading the directions and ingredients.

Sugar. Chocolate. Vanilla.

I get excited….

I have all of that stuff.

Candy thermometer.

Stop the Candy Making Truck.

I’m a little ashamed to say – I don’t even own a candy thermometer.

I have a meat thermometer, and a Baby thermometer…

but, that is as far as my thermometer ownership goes.

That brings me back to Bark Candy.

I love this Easter Egg Bark Candy I made today.

Even the bunnies are excited.

Ha Ha

The best part? You only need three basic ingredients.

Two bags of White Chocolate Baking Chip.

( I got mine at Michael’s)

   1 cup sweetened Coconut…

This is has been colored green with food coloring.

You can’t have Easter Eggs and not have Easter grass, right?

Then, you need a bag of small egg-shaped candies.

My eggs are malt flavored.

Thank goodness, no candy thermometer is needed.

Here is all you do to make the Easter Egg Bark…

First, melt the chocolate in a double boiler…

Just a glass dish over a pan of boiling water.

You can use the microwave, but you have more control with the

melting process and do not chance overcooking the chocolate.

Make sure all the chips are melted and there’s no clumps or bits.

Next, pour the melted chocolate onto a parchment paper

covered sheet pan.

You want a thinner layer.  Smooth it out as evenly as possible.

Now, sprinkle your coconut “grass” on top while chocolate is still soft.

Press the coconut lightly into the chocolate to make it stick once

it has hardened.  Now add the Easter Eggs…

Again, make sure they are pressed into the chocolate well.

Stick the pan into the freezer for about 20 minutes to allow the

chocolate to harden.  Then, break the sheet of Chocolate Bark into

pieces.  Don’t worry about the shape. I don’t even worry about the size,

although I do try to keep the pieces slightly smaller.

With very few ingredients and very little effort, you get these results…

Yummy pieces of white chocolate, sweet coconut and malted candy eggs.

Little pieces of yumminess. Smile

This candy makes great gifts for Teachers, Friends and Office Mates.

I made an extra batch and will leave it sitting in a cute basket on the

Easter Dessert Table.

Did I mention I did all of this without a Candy Thermometer?

Yes!

I am like you – if a recipe calls for a candy thermometer or yeast making, I stop. I like your easy candy bark recipe.

This looks amazing — and easy to make! Candy making is so tricky. I won’t tell you about the “blackened” toffee I made this one time. Ick and a waste of a lot of sugar.
