Dining Room Buffet for Christmas

Our Dining Room Buffet is a reflection of our Christmas Mantel this year.

And the Dining Room Tablescape is a reflection of the Buffet.  The three areas of the Dining Room interact with the same style…mercury glass candleholders, red berries and velvet poinsettias.  Lots of sparkle and lots of plaid.   Today I am sharing our Dining Room Buffet for Christmas.

This Saturday we will have a houseful of family and friends for a large Christmas party.  The Dining Room table will be ladened with as much food as it can hold, and this Buffet will be cleared a bit to make way for a Dessert Bar.  So, I wanted to share how the buffet looks before some of the pretties were removed for the party.

As with every season, my beautiful Pink and White Staffordshire Soup Tureen takes center stage.  I always try to give it a different look each year.  This year, I added a small white lantern in the center surrounded by lots of greenery, berries, feathers, antlers and a large single velvet poinsettia stem which matches the stems on the mantel.

The large painting above the mantel is surrounded by a lush, layered garland with white lights.  I created this garland by using three different layers of greenery and berries.  Plaid bows anchor each end.

Underneath the buffet, I have two black metal lanterns and a basket filled with pretty packages and greenery.

I used more mercury glass candlesticks on each side of the Soup Tureen Centerpiece.

I adore these simple red berry candle rings I have had for several years.

Between the white lights of the mantel and the lights in the garland above the buffet, the whole room just glows at night and we don’t even turn on any of the lamps.

One of my fave mini pillows….

This room has a slightly more formal feel than the Old Fashioned Christmas Breakfast Room and Kitchen next door, but I am okay with that being this is the formal Dining Room.

But, I guarantee you the formal Dining Room has a Cheerio or three on the floor, fingerprints on the table, and a Lego that I am sure to step on at 3am.  In other words, there isn’t a room in this home that is so formal that it doesn’t feel warm and welcoming.  Even if there is some sparkle and shine from mercury glass candlesticks and lanterns.

As the pillow on my couch says… “Pardon the Mess, I am Making Memories with my Children.”  Thank you for letting me share our Dining Room Buffet for Christmas.   xxoo, Barb

Seriously–an ad between EVERY photo? Way too hard, annoying & time consuming to try to get through! Sad!!

Hi Mary – I’m sorry the ads annoy you. But in case you didn’t realize it, this is my full time job and hence I require a paycheck, because the last time I checked – the grocery store and power companies did not accept Monopoly money. So while you enjoy the work from this blog and others, it costs money to create these posts, make the recipes and buy the supplies for the projects. Those ads you find so annoying are what allows this blog to keep going. These blogs are just like magazines. Do you write the magazines and complain about the number of ads in them? And if you think a few ads on a blog are “sad” then you really need to redefine the word. I am sorry your experience here was so traumatic.
