Comment on Cotton {Jump Down, Turn Around} by Alycia Nichols.
This is so funny!!! I was just talking to Shirley at Southern Housepatality earlier today about wanting some authentic cotton!!! Living here in the Kansas City, MO area doesn’t allow us much opportunity for such luxuries. We have corn and soy and wheat out of the ying-yang, but not a puff of cotton! (At lest not in the northeastern part of Missouri.) I have visited the South and wanted to pluck some, but didn’t want to just saunter up to someone’s field and start whackin’ away at it. I’m pretty sure that would have bought me either a pair of tight silver bracelets or a behind full of buckshot! At any rate, I just rode past and wished. I would like to just hop out and be able to pull some of it myself for the experience! If I win some cotton on the stick, though, that would be cool, too. π And, yes, we “Northerners” get all pouty because we don’t have all the cool stuff you guys have there like year-round temperate weather, cool accents, houses with wrap around porches (there are surprisingly very few around here!), houses completely made of brick (many just have a brick facade on the front), sugar cane, and…cotton! π

Hey Barbara, I’m a friend/follower and a Southern gal who’d love to win some cotton, because all I have to decorate with is dried okra pods…and a few pine cones. π Love your vignette.

Barb, what a wonderful trip, that palace I unbelievable and the gardens amazing. I have several family members that go there year after year for vacation and they never tire of what it has to offer. They are also huge history buffs!

Looks like a lot of fun, Barb! I’ve never toured there, just visited. I would love to go if I could get my homebody family away from the beach!

Barb I love the picture of you and your honey, great picture of both of you. Oh how I want to go back, you did a fabulous job showing us Williamsburg. The Rockefeller kitchen cupboards reminded me of my color in the kitchen, and oh how I want that sink and stove. I am a throw back of the 1930s I guess. Loved my guided tour with you,
