I just needed a coordinating fabric to use as a tablecloth. Off to the the fabric store to look thru the clearance table.
I found the perfect print. Though not on the clearance table, the cotton novelty fabric was only $4 a yard on sale…so 2 yards of fabric still made a very inexpensive tablecloth. I loved the raspberry dragonflies. (Not sure if you remember my office post – but my Real Estate office’s waiting area is decorated using a dragonfly and botanical theme.)
… and starting creating a hydrangea and fruit arrangement in an oblong, wicker basket.
How about this Bordallo lily pad plate with a frog. Wait! Look what’s landed on the butter. Mr. Dragonfly! You better not let that frog see you Mr Dragonfly – or you might be renamed “Mr. Lunch.”
It’s a Spring Tablescape – and nothing says Spring like some chubby birds. These were borrowed from the Foyer.
I added these cute sayings to my centerpiece using wood skewers from the pantry….more goodies from my scrap booking box.
* remember the post I did on Met Monday about using scrap booking items in different ways. This is a cute way to add personality to a centerpiece.
Love this one!
So I’m sure you would like to see the completed table….okay – here ya’ go…
another view…
…a little closer…
I even added a little extra sparkle to the handles of the flatware.
… and a close-up of the plates…before the bird ate all the berries in the tart.
I love how all the colors and patterns and textures came together.
And here’s my bestest, most favoritest (those are words!) dinner guest!
He said the tart looked yummy! He had a hard time understanding it was not real! 😉
I hope you have enjoyed this week’s Tablescape. Next week, I will be using these same plates to create a Traditional Easter tablescape. It will be a totally different look.
I have even more ideas in store for you!
Please make sure you hop over to Susan’s at Between Naps on the Porch to look at everyone who participated in Tablescape Thursday. Thanks, Susan, for being a wonderful hostess!
Happy Tablescaping Thursday…Barb

Love the butter dish…and the extra visitor! Very fun. Enjoy what you have and make it work…well done! I have antique Franciscan Appleware mostly in my hutch…it’s deep red and green…not very “springy” either, but I love it! I’ve mixed in some Country rose dishes to mix it up a bit…I need your frog and dragon fly! ; )

Barb, What an amazing tablescape! What you are able to do to a table is truly an art. And guess what?!?! I just got a big package in the mail from North Carolina and inside I found my new little friend, and that wonderful smelling soap! I thought about a name for him and of course the name that came to me right away was none other than………. Mr Grits!! Now I hope your beloved hubby wont be insulted, but I could think of no better name! Mr Grits had a great trip up to Indiana and although he said it is a bit cold here, he seems to be fitting in just fine! Give me a little bit and I will have a new post up about him! Thanks again, I love him! Sue
