Easy, Homemade Autumn Boiling Spice by The Everyday Home #FALL #DIY

“AUTUMN BOILING SPICE”

What do most recipes have in common?

Well, generally there’s a list of ingredients.

Ok, check.

Then, usually, there are instructions on how to prepare the recipe.

Yep, got that covered.

What am I missing?  Oh yea, cooking time.

Uh-huh.  That’s included, too.

So why is this recipe different than the other recipes I have shared

here at The Everyday Home?

Well, I would not suggest you eat this recipe.  But, I do highly suggest

you have it in your home on simmer and let this incredible smell whiff

through your home – filling it with the citrusy-spicy aromas of Fall.

Chances are, you have most of the ingredients in your spice cabinet already.

I use a palm-full of whole cloves, 4-5 Bay leaves, 2-3 small cinnamon sticks

broken into pieces…and a few slices of orange.  If I have any whole nutmeg

I will use that too, but I was out.

I have this cute little vintage, iron skillet I found at a yardsale for FIFTY CENTS!

It’s perfect for this Boiling Spice because it holds the perfect amount.

You can also use a saucepan, although I would use one which is older

or one which you can delegate as a Boiling Spice pan.

I added just enough water to fill the pan to the top of the spices and fruit slices,

then brought it to a rolling boil and turned the heat to simmer.

And then… I just let it sit there and do its thing.

It’s simmering thing.

And, let that delicious scents of all things Fall drift through my home.

Sometimes, its all about the little things in life isn’t it?

Oh-That sounds like the smell of Fall to me. There is nothing in the world to make me think of a Season like a certain scent. I am going to try this one. I have always loved Apple Jack by Claire Burke for Fall. xo Diana
