There are some new and exciting features
coming to The Everyday Home in
the next few months.
One of the things that will be happening next month is I will be switching to a whole new
blogging platform (WordPress) that will
allow me to do so many more things to make
this blog (hopefully) bigger and better.
So, if you see a few kinks and funky happenings,
such as wonky pics or out of line text…
please bare with me as I pull out my hair
figure out what I am doing. 🙂
Another exciting feature I am adding to
The Everyday Home are
Guest Contributors.
These are fabulous Bloggers whom I have
invited to share a monthly post with you on
their chosen subject.
I am thrilled that
Leslie with House on the Way
is my newest Craft Contributor.
I know you will love Leslie, so please make her feel welcomed here at The Everyday Home.

4th of July Glass Vases
Hello readers of The Everyday Home! I’m Leslie from House on the Way and I’m so excited to be the new Craft Contributor here at The Everyday Home. It’s an honor to be working with Barb!
Today, I’m sharing a quick and easy craft that is not only great for the upcoming 4th of July, but you can make some adjustments and use it all year. I’m sharing my 4th of July Glass Vases.
My glass vases are actually large candle holders, but you could
use any glass container that you have on hand. I chose to use
red and blue craft paint and shells to add a touch of summer
and the 4th of July.
I found the jute twine at Lowe’s. There are different sizes, so
you can chose which thickness you prefer for your piece.
Using hot glue, I began wrapping the twine around the glass. I started out gluing the twine all the way around the glass. I wanted it to be secure. Once I had a couple of rows complete, I began to glue a couple of spots on each row. As you continue to layer the rows of twine, it becomes tight and secure.
You can determine how high on the glass that you want to go. Because my glass containers had the inside candle holder visible,
I wanted to go high enough to cover it.
They look great with just the twine! They make an excellent summer home decor piece. To add a touch of the 4th of July, I painted the two shells red and blue.
Once the shells were dry, I hot glued them to the outside
of the vase.
I’ve used them as decorative pieces, but they’ll be great to hold utensils and napkins at a 4th of July cookout. Of course they’ll
be perfect 4th of July candleholders!
Once the 4th has passed, simply pop of the shells and use them year round! They are quick, easy and great for summer decorating!
Have a Happy 4th of July!

GREAT idea – have got to try that – hope I can do it without burning my fingers as I usually do when dealing with my hot glue guns, haha.
