I was blessed with a green thumb!
At least in the garden. Strangely enough I struggle with keeping plants alive inside of our home. I won’t even tell you how many poor ficus trees I have murdered in my lifetime. Then, we have my three furballs to think about which sees anything green as a chew toy. So, I have to use an abundance of caution whenever I bring anything live into our home. But this time of year, my soul yearns to fill every room with something green and thriving. Well, “thriving” for as long as I can keep it alive. *wink
5 Easy Ways to Add Greenery Into Your Home

Don’t forget…!!!
Remember … one comment = one entry!

1.) Using Cuttings from Your Yard
One of my all time fave things to bring into our home and arrange are grapevine cuttings. Here on our heavenly little 5-acre plot of Earth, grapevine grows abundantly and that allows me to cut as much as I want. In fact, it seems the more I cut it the more it grows. Hubby talks about hiring someone to come in and clean out all of the vines. My usual reply to that suggestion is “Bite your tongue. You’re not touching my vines.” 🙂 Adding a few faux flower stems gives the arrangement some color.

2.) Succulents and Easy to Care For Plants
I adore succulents. I have had “hens and chicks” in my home for as long as I can remember. Why? Because my own mama grew hens and chicks in her home. Hens and Chicks are probably the most popular of the succulent family, but there are a myriad of other types available. In fact. the whole succulent popularity has exploded, mostly because they are so easy to care for. If you have problems keeping indoor plants alive, try out a few of these. You can plant them in any container – even a vintage English Soup Tureen. 🙂

3.) Grocery Store Flowers and Greenery
The quickest way to bring greenery into your home is grabbing a bundle or two from the grocery store. Sometimes I will buy a whole bundle of flowers, then other times I grab some greenery clippings and a few single stems. It doesn’t take a lot of flowers to make a pretty Farmhouse-Style Arrangement.

4.) How to Arrange Flowers
My sweet, late Uncle, who could grow anything his heart desired, and created some amazing arrangements inside his home for my Aunt, once said “if you have flowers in your garden then you everything.” He was so right. Each year, I try to add more and more varieties of plants and flowers and herbs that I can cut to create charming bouquets in our home. I understand for many of you, flower arranging just doesn’t come easy. So I wrote this post showing you How to Arrange Flowers. It’s a no fail technique.

5.) What Happens When You Don’t Have Fresh Flowers?
You live in the city. You don’t have a green thumb. You are allergic to pollens. The list could go on and on why you don’t have fresh flowers in your home. That doesn’t mean you can’t add the beauty or the look of cut flowers. Here’s the secret…they don’t have to be real. I know, I know. You’re rolling your eyes at the thoughts of using faux anything in your home when it comes to greenery and flowers. Faux flowers have come a long way in the past few years. No longer do you have to choose from plastic florals or those horrible stems with colors chosen from a neon sign. Choosing faux stems can be easy but also expensive. Watch for the sales and buy them half price. Here is how to Use Faux Flowers in Your Greenery Arrangements.
So there are five easy ways. Now there are no excuses. 🙂 You don’t have to be a professional florist to create some amazing arrangements. Keep in mind sometimes the most simplest of arrangements are the prettiest.

Love the idea of soup tureen. Should have bought the chipped one I saw yesterday. I could have planted a vine and no one would have seen it. Thanks for some great ideas

My Mom always had succulents too. In fact I asked my son yesterday how they were doing! (He now owns my parents house) He replied with a smirk, what are those? I told him the plants by the fireplace.” Oh those? They’re great, I love them.” I too have better luck with outdoor plants than in. I love a cut flower garden. My Grandma always had one. A big bouquet for your birthday was a special treat. Thanks for all the wonderful tips.
