I have always subscribed to the school of thought that one must write down their goals in order to be able to visualize them. I am also a graduate (summa cum laude) of List Making. I LOVE my lists. In fact, I love to make lists of lists. Where I error is not seeing these lists through to the end. But, hence, that is another post. 🙂
So – I decided I wanted to share my Top Three major design projects for 2012.
#1: Kitchen Remodel/Update
Here is my kitchen in its current state:
This is from the Country Woman Magazine photo shoot Christmas 2010.
Below is the Copper Farmhouse sink I just *had* to have….
Well folks – I met with my Painter Dude today, and I am officially on his books to start the remodel end of the month. Out with the Red…. in with the White!
I have loved the red… but I am going through a
Mid-Life Decorating Crisis and my soul is screaming for
light and bright and white.
I hope the ole’ budget (such a pesky thing, a budget!) will
allow me to install Carrera Marble on the two outer countertops where the oak countertops currently are…. but we will have to see.
I have been longing for Carrera for years now.
I am putting subway tile on the backsplash, and most of all…. I
am removing the copper farmhouse sink for a plain white one. “Why?” many of you will ask?
It is simply just too hard to keep clean, and although I am no
neat-freak by any means – even this drives me nutty trying to
keep it clean. I was warned…but did I listen?
(well, the sink speaks for itself. LOL)
#2: Master Bathroom Remodel
Here is my inspiration…
I know what you’re probably thinking. More white?
It’s my SOUL, I tell you. More screaming. More white. 🙂
#3. Laundry Room/Pantry
Here is my inspiration pic…
Oops….sorry. Wrong pic.
I love my home. But having no official pantry and a “pass-by” laundry space does not cut it in my book.
So that is my three main Design Goals for 2012. Oy!
I think I need another job. 🙂
DIY Stories to follow…. I hope!
Wishing you the best of luck with YOUR 2012 projects!

The kitchen is really beautiful. I’ve been wondering about the knife if it’s safe in that position.

Sounds like you will have a very busy, but productive year! I’d love to remodel my kitchen, but I have this little girl at Meredith, and she’s a freshman, which equals 3.5 more years of tuition! ha! Looks like I’ll live vicariously through you this year, and your kitchen remodel, … and keep dreaming! LOL! Can’t wait to see how it all turns out! Excited for you!

I love your kitchen, Barb! That first shot is great, but I can totally relate to what you want now. I’ve been lightening up in small stages for the past few years and I always wanted white or cream cabinets in my kitchen. Then we moved and I got the cream cabinets, so I’m happy enough on that front.

LOVE IT!!! I, too, remodeled my kitchen in 2010 and it went ALL WHITE!! Couldn’t be happier! It’s only 12×14, so I didn’t want it to feel like it was closing in on me. The only concession was black “stone-like” laminate countertops (no budget for the “real” stuff). I like the look of the black. I can change my colored pottery out at will and have new looks all the time. I also have a white “old-fashioned” kitchen sink in my renovated kitchen — it’s actually a double bowl and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!! Successful renovating to you!
