Comment on Do You Prefer To Go Buff? :-0 by Tracey@Breathing English Air.
When I was a school girl I used to help an old lady with her cleaning, and this involved polishing the silver. So for the hours I spent at that task (I had to do the brass door furniture too) I would say shine.

Hi! You have two of my photos here. The succulents in silver and the Trophy cups on the silver plate.

I’m a shiner too. My southern grandmother served as a companion/housekeeper to an elderly widow, back in the early 1960s. At age 56 she had no other way of supporting herself. I was 13 and remember visiting and helping her polish the the silver all laid out on the dining room table. So, any pieces I find now have to be polished.

I love it both ways! If I am entertaining and mixing it with crystal, I want it to shine! However, if I am doing a vignette, I prefer it a little tarnished. That’s part of my attraction to silver…the versatility.

Barb, what a wonderful trip, that palace I unbelievable and the gardens amazing. I have several family members that go there year after year for vacation and they never tire of what it has to offer. They are also huge history buffs!

Looks like a lot of fun, Barb! I’ve never toured there, just visited. I would love to go if I could get my homebody family away from the beach!

Barb I love the picture of you and your honey, great picture of both of you. Oh how I want to go back, you did a fabulous job showing us Williamsburg. The Rockefeller kitchen cupboards reminded me of my color in the kitchen, and oh how I want that sink and stove. I am a throw back of the 1930s I guess. Loved my guided tour with you,
