I love Lanterns.
I am starting to collect quite a few in both white and black, and I love working them into my decor, especially during the seasons. This year, I wanted my table centerpiece to be low key. I know. funny right? Me? Low key? I CAN be sometimes you know. So I immediately thought of my new large white lantern from IKEA. I also decided to add two white, ceramic roosters on each side of the lantern…but all that white needed some color. A DIY Berry Wreath was just the answer. Here’s what I did.

The final touches of Fall are coming along nicely here at The Everyday Home. I have a few things to add to the kitchen and breakfast room. Then, I can start on my front porch. Yay! We are heading to the NC mountains and that means pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins!!! I can’t wait to bring back a Suburban loadful. 🙂 I created a centerpiece for our Dining Room table, and will be adding place settings soon. It could not have been easier.
I started with a runner…this table seats 8 so I needed a long one. I sewed together a quick runner with some leftover remnants of a tan and white ticking fabric.. It’s perfect, and this fabric will also work well with dishes I have planned. Next, I added a large white lantern from IKEA. I grabbed a set of three candles for now, but will add a more colorful one for a pop of candle. (note to self: buy new candle)
I elevated the lantern just a bit on a wood slice chopping board. Not so much for the wood effect, but to give it some slight elevation off of the table.
The grapevine here on our property is going crazy this year. I don’t think I have ever seen it growing quite so profuse. Perfect! I love having a lot of grapevine on-hand to use during this time of year. I cut about 7-8 long tendrils of grapevine and quickly wrapped and wove them into a loose wreath shape, leaving the green leaves intact as they will dry a beautiful, golden brown color. I made sure the wreath fit around the lantern.
I found some mini berry garlands at Michael’s. They were 40% off. Yes!
To create the Berry Wreath, all I needed to do was loosely place the berry garland on top of the grapevine wreath. Honestly, this is a pretty elementary DIY project.
I used three berry garlands so the wreath would be full.
I thought about adding some other accents, but honestly I liked the simplicity of this wreath as it was.
I added the two white Roo’s – and my toned-down dining room table centerpiece was complete. At least for now. 🙂
Next week, I will add chargers and plates and glasses and all the accoutrements of a Fall Tablescape.
Thank you for letting me share my easy DIY Lantern Berry Wreath.
xxoo, Barb
