Well, hello there November!
As the fall leaves continue falling in a melodic dance
around The Everyday Home, we are settling in to
cooler nights and shorter days. I can’t wait to light
our first fire. I am also getting in the mindset of
Thanksgiving. Menus. Tablesettings. Desserts.
It’s all part of the process of enjoying the seasons
to come.
Thanksgiving will be a simpler affair this year, but
I still want to set a pretty table.
So I made these…
Moss Pumpkin Place Cards
……………………………………
We are far from formal at our home.
The only seats at the table which are generally
reserved (and it’s kinda an unspoken rule)
are for The Hubbs on one end …
because I am old-fashioned that way –
and for my Daddy on the other end, because I
think the patriarch of the family deserves that
place of honor.
So, place cards aren’t needed to delegate seating.
But, I love that each place setting has a small
personalized touch which lets each family member
or guest know I was thinking of them.
To create these place cards, I pulled out my bag-o-moss
and my low-temp glue gun and grabbed some pumpkins.
I simply glued the moss all over, until I was satisfied
with the fullness and how it looked.
Okay, so I have a little confession.
This project didn’t turn out exactly how I
envisioned it would. The pumpkins lost some
of their shape when they were plastered with moss.
But, I still adore them.
Then, using a pre-made tag, I attached it with
two coordinating Fall ribbons.
I placed mine on small paper mache’ pots.
You could simply sit yours right on the table.
I made a dozen of these in about an hour.
I think it will be a sweet, little touch for the
Thanksgiving Table that goes well with the placesetting.
This year’s table will be a combination of
burlap-covered chargers from Hobby Lobby, a plain
white plate, a cabbage leaf salad plate and
assorted vintage, English brown and white plates.
I will start with a Pumpkin Soup in the vintage,
white Ironstone bowls.
I love these quick and easy ideas.
Sometimes, it’s these easy ideas that help make
your holidays more enjoyable and stress-free.
Don’t you agree?

I love your Tablescape. But that brown ticking table cloth is stealing my heart. We have a very small farmhouse so everything is very informal — even formal.???? So simple is always best at our house. Love the idea of stress free!
