I think my front porch has a slight inferiority complex.
It is surrounded by other Southern homes with large front porches, and at times she feels a little, well…. (bending over to whisper in your ear)…. inadequate.
sssshhhhh…..
Don’t say it out loud. We try not to talk about this in front of her.
I really do understand how she could feel this way. I mean, this is the South.
The land of cotton, sweet tea, bless your heart and very large welcoming front porches.
How does a small front porch overcome her feelings of inadequacy? Especially during the Holidays? It’s not like there is a “little pill” to suddenly have a larger “front porch.” 😀
Easy.
Just like any true Southern woman… she adds pearls, a large hat, high heels and red lipstick.
Layers of jewelry, such as cute little tags stamped with our names…
… as well as, some Christmas messages.
Her make-up is applied sparingly to allow her natural beauty to shine through.
Lemon cedar trees in galvanized buckets, paper whites in plain white pitchers….
Red poinsettias surrounded by frasier fir branches in weathered urns.
Every Southern woman knows how important it is to have a perfectly coifed hairstyle. Such as this crown of greenery, holly, vines and gingham ribbons.
A few more coordinating accessories such as berry and grapevine adorned topiaries with burlap and ribbon bows.
All of you are invited. You don’t even need a hat, pearls or lipstick. Come as you are…
Stay tuned.

You need to have a talk with her and tell her she is gorgeous and has nothing to be ashamed of! Just like Jeanette says, size isn’t everything.

Your porch is huge compared to my stoop. Love how you dressed her up. I know she is holding her head high now.

Well, She may not be BIG but she sure is BEAUTIFUL! You did a great job dressing her up. She’s a lucky girl if you ask me-and now she can stick her tongue out at all the big old porches (I guess that would be raising her mat?;>) xo Diana

Look at that red door! That, right there, is a show stopper! You have such a cute writing style, as I’ve told you before! And the front porch will have many others hanging their heads in shame, no doubt!
