going to be quite the job. We live on almost 5 acres,
and the original owner planted hundreds and
hundreds of azaleas, all of which are overgrown
and out of control. So they are ALL coming out!
de-red-ify my home, my original intention was to do
it a room at a time.
home and saw the first color go up.
show you some REAL Before’s. The faint of heart
may want to log-off now, as the following
scenes are quite disturbing.
Reds and Golds…
Actually, I have made some progress in here.
A few more hours and I should have this room
back together. I am looking at having slipcovers made
for the two furniture pieces, but that will come later.
My biggest dilemma is window treatments and
what to do about the pretty arched window.
hmmm…..
Loving these new pillows I bought at Pier1
Again, lots of gold.

Dining Room Sideboard –
my Staffordhsire dogs, some pink and white
pieces, and my vintage silver coffee urn…
I replaced the heavier, dark lamp for a new
mirrored-style lamp with a white shade.
$39.99 from Marshall’s.
Two new Ralph Lauren pillows. I heart these!
$16.99 at Marshall’s.
I have plans for these. 🙂
I added two more vintage Pink and White
platters to the wallscape surrounding the print.
The lamp emits such a pretty glow at night.
The rest of the Dining Room is almost finished,
as well – just a few more tweaks here and there before
I do the big total reveal.
At this rate, I hope to have my house back
together by Easter! 😉

Oh my gosh!!!! I would love to have someone come and paint away!!! How fun to get a whole new face—oops house lift!! It is looking fantastic and I love the molding you had the painter do!!!
We do all our painting ourselves so it takes us forever! I am working on my craft closet and am wondering if I might get done by summer when the Where Women Create party is- I am not holding my breath! And it’s just a closet!!!

Paint can do wonders for a home and this is a great example of that. It looks so good.. I’ve been seeling folks on khaki walls for years so of course I think that looks perfect.
View CommentHold on tight to that painter..:)

What a weekend transformation, I hope that painter gets a nice Christmas present because he/she is worth gold in what was accomplished. I can’t wait to see the final look, thanks for sharing.

Wow, Barb, so much impact at once! I’m sure you might be feeling a little overwhelmed at putting things back together. I know I would! Love the colors you chose. I did love your red cabinets! I’ve left the arch top windows in our new place uncovered because we are in a condo and they really help bring light in. There are 4! Love the new dining room print. I can’t wait to see what else you do.
P.S. I also like to tackle paint projects when hubby is out of town! I find it less stressful when he’s not peeking over my shoulder to make sure I haven’t hit the ceiling! : )

Our motto here is “Go Big or Go Home!” LOL! And you certainly did go big! Love it all! The white cabinets are beautiful!!! And I love the blue walls! Your home was beautiful before, but I love the fresh lighter tones! Can’t wait to see the final outcome with your pretty vignettes and wall decor in place, but then do we ever really “finish” decorating? 🙂

Beautiful, beautiful, Barb! I SO want to paint my dark cherry cabinets white (dark wood was never my choice; we bought my son’s new house when he decided it was “too big” for him to deal with as a single dad…) ~ of course, EVERYONe opposes me! LOL…love all your blog; have just gotten back to blogging, and just found you!

View CommentI love the new color combinations, although I have to tell you I frequently browse the pages your blog for inspiration. Some of my favorite color combinations are reds and golds. They seem to work well with my antiques. I can’t wait to see all your finished rooms. You are such an inspiration to everyone. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful changes.
I really love the change of pictures in your dining room. The colors in the picture are so attractive with the chairs and transferware.
I am still enjoying things that I bought at Bombay years ago. Wish they would come again.

Please let me know what you decide to do for the arched windows. I have six of them in my home, and so far the only thing we’ve done with them is to use the fanned blinds, and I put up curtains beneath.
