Welcome to the very first Keep It Simple Party…
Everyone loves simple projects which can be assembled with ease.
In fact…I got home late tonight. As in after 6pm late.
So my plans of getting home at 4pm, leisurely assembling my project and creating my blog post…well, let’s say it didn’t exactly go that way.
But isn’t that called “life?” That’s why these “Keep It Simple” projects are ideal….when life gets crazy!
Here is my official

“Keep It Simple Project”
Easy Pumpkin Planter
A faux pumpkin, some dirt, some flowers (I chose mums, ornamental peppers, violas, a dusty miller plant and some ivy cut from my yard. I also had a few silk
stems, which I will show you.
stems, which I will show you.
To create the “planter” I used a simple kitchen knife to cut the top from the pumpkin.
Next I filled it halfway with potting soil.
Time: 2 mins
Then, I planted my flowers.
Next, I added some of the silk stems. I added Chinese Lanterns and ornamental grass.
Total assembly….to include giving kisses to me sweet Roo
…about 15 mins.
How Simple is That?
I chose the white pumpkin, but also bought a traditional orange pumpkin to create another arrangement.
The best part is the container is waterproof and I can water the flowers without worrying about spilling.
I love it. If you love it too…you can win one.
You can win one by simply leaving a comment here, and I will also be giving one away to a lucky Blogger who shares a project.
Thanks for Joining in…..Barb

How fun is that. Never thought of actually planting real flowers. They would have such a hard time growing here anyway. I love the idea. I need to get some of the white pumpkins, nothing much here. Thanks for hosting such a fun party. Hugs, Marty

I’ve always been such an majolica pieces. I’ve only got one. Your pumpkin is gorgeous.
The decorations and tutorials you’ve created here are just perfect for my kitchen or den! They are “just enough” to add the perfect touch. Easy too.

Barb, was this a real pumpkin that you cut and sprayed or fake one that you spray painted white? I like it! If you planted real flowers in it in soil, my guess is you had to make some drainage holes in bottom?
View CommentStacey says
You used an artificial pumpkin? I think that’s one of the most clever ideas ever! I can absolutely do that. 🙂

Great idea and so simple. Thanks! Happy Fall!

Love your planter and the idea behind your party. I too feel so busy, that there’s hardly time for projects. I’m off to check out some of the other entries.

As simple as you make the pumping planter sound, I know it would take me longer. It’s not the cutting the pumpkin, it’s arranging the flowers!
