Welcome to Tasty Tuesday # 6
I am not going to lie, I was kinda caught short today and totally forgot about Tasty Tuesday.
I mean, its not like Tasty Tuesday falls on a
different day of the week and I have to always consult my calendar.
Generally, if falls just after Monday and right before the day we all refer to as
“two more days until the weekend.”
😀
But, to be honest, I am so busy packing and pricing and wrapping for the
coming up this weekend,
I plum forgot.
Speaking of the Mini Market?
Can you make it this weekend?
I have so many new
I have so many new
Farmhouse Decor items I am introducing and
I would love for you to see them in person.
I am even giving 20% to the first 10 buyers.
:-O Yep, 20%!!!
I am participating in this Vintage Mini Market
with two other fabulous ladies,
Amy at Atta Girl Says and
Kristen with Sophia’s Decor.
I can’t even tell you how much fabulous Vintageness will be there.
Plus, there will be live demos on painting
furniture using Miss Mustard Seed paints, (they will also be sold during this event)
Tablescaping and Floral Design.
Tablescaping and Floral Design.
So much fun!! We hope to see you there!
Ok, so let’s get back to Tasty Tuesday.
When I went to create a button for Tasty Tuesday, I wanted a picture that looked fresh and vibrant and made you want to lick your screen.
(well, not literally)
(well, not literally)
That is why I chose my Easy Fruit Salad picture.
It is also why I am reposting that recipe today.
(well, also because I forgot it was Tasty Tuesday) 🙂
So I hope you enjoy this oldie but goodie.
How perfect right now with all the fresh
fruits available.

Well, that would be the fruit in season or
whatever you have on hand.
whatever you have on hand.
In my case, it was strawberries, bananas,
pears, peaches and apples.
pears, peaches and apples.
Let’s face it….making fruit salad does not
require a culinary degree from
Le Cordon Bleu. 🙂

Peel, slice, dice. Repeat.
I do have a small peeve when it comes
to fruit salads, though.

When someone takes these beautiful fruits –
goes through the time

and effort to peel, slice and dice – and then
slathers this beautiful fruit with some heavy
mayo concoction or thick dressing.

Noooooooooo. 🙁
So, my “salad” is very simple.
I do have a “Kid Friendly” version and
an “Adult” version.
an “Adult” version.
This is the Kid Friendly version as my grandsons were staying with me. This is one of their faves.
I simply peel, slice, dice the fruit and add a
good squeeze of fresh lemon juice to keep the
fruit from turning brown, but also to add a touch of acidity to the sweetness of the fruit.
Then, I add about 4-6 Tbs (depending on how
big the salad is) of a local honey.

Why local honey? Some believe that local
honey will help combat allergies because
honey will help combat allergies because
the bees have collected pollen from local
flowers and weeds, and this carries over to
the honey, thereby allowing the trace
amounts of pollen in the honey to assist in
build an immunity to the allergy-producing
flora and fauna in your own area.

I don’t know if its a proven medical fact, but
it sounds pretty logical to me. Plus, I also love the idea that I know who is producing my honey.

I also add in a good handful of dried
cranberries and organic toasted, sliced almonds.

That’s it.
Mother Nature doesn’t need pearls and high heels.
What is my “Adult” version?
I add either fresh chopped mint or, if available
in my garden, fresh chopped basil.
(The basil is a nice surprise.)

And just a splash of orange liqueur for a

How do you fix your Fruit Salad?
I’d love to hear what you add.
