Toilet Paper.
Can we have an honest discussion here for a minute?
The Everyday Home had been out of toilet paper for at least two days. TWO days foraging for “other” types of papers that would serve the same purpose as Charmin.
Charmin stand-ins.
I promised The Hubbs I would stop and get some t-paper after work, because I needed to pick up some “cleaning supplies.” *wink
(aka I wanted to walk through the Smith & Hawkin aisle at Target) *evil laugh
As I was making my way “towards” the toilet paper aisle….. (give me some credit, I was heading in that general direction wasn’t I?)
….I just so happened to pass by the lamps.
Didn’t need a lamp.
Didn’t want a lamp.
Didn’t even look at lamps.
So please tell me how this lamp ended up in my cart?
I love the look of a soft glow under cabinets. I had the perfect little corner in my kitchen.
And there was this cute, square shade to go with it.
Oh, the excitement was just building.
It was perfect.
Well, almost.
It needed something. Something that would say
“Farmhouse Lamp.” After all, a clear glass lamp base with a square, white shade does not exactly scream “Farmhouse” does it?
But, eggs sure do. White eggs. Brown eggs.
Little eggs. Lamp eggs.
Now who doesn’t love a lamp full of eggs, right?
I mean, if you don’t have a lamp full of eggs, then by all means run to Target and buy some “cleaning supplies” in two shakes of sheep’s tail.
The Hubbs came in as I was taking these pics.
“New lamp?”
“Uh-huh,” I replied nonchalantly, hoping the big can of cashews on the counter, which had conveniently appeared, would somehow capture his attention and my new lamp would not be so noticeable.
“Oh, cashews! Thanks, babe.”
Silently, I fist pumped the air. The cashews did the trick. I would NOT have to coyly explain why
I had brought home another lamp, when we had lamps in storage which were procreating like rabbits…. another silent fist pump.
“Did you get toilet paper?”
Isn’t amazing how you can be fist pumping one minute and the next….NOT.
Sigh. Drats that Lamp aisle. Next time, I will bypass that aisle and go straight to the Charmin.
xxoo

OMG! Barbara I just picked up a similar lamp less shade at a farm sale on the weekend. My hubby asked what am I going to do with THAT???
View CommentHe didn’t like it. Well you just wait and see I told him. Well for $1.00 I couldn’t pass it up. Now I’m off to walmart or homesense to find a shade. We live in Canada and there is not target here yet. Linda

The lamp is pretty irresistible. I have to have a list at Target and also don’t allow myself walks down isles where I don’t need anything. Otherwise it’s a 200 dollar bill waiting to happen.
