Southern Front Porch Decorated for Spring at The Everyday Home Blog

“Porch Ideas for Spring”

Today was the first day of Spring.

You know how I know?

The hanging baskets of ferns were out at Lowe’s.

Then, and only then, is it officially Spring. Laughing

So, it was time to knock off the icky layer of Winter’s dust and

grime and add a few Porch Ideas for Spring.

I have a little confession.   I told my friends that

I was dedicating this post to my Hubby.

I’ve been basically couch-bound for about two weeks. Frown

I have dangerously high BP and they can’t seem to get it down.

But, because I am hosting the

“Wreath and Porch Event”

of the “All Things Home: Swing Into Spring“

Linky Party Week… I had to get moving.

Have you been able to catch the other Link Parties?

I will provide a full list at the end, but for now – I would

so love to introduce you to my Co-Host’s for today’s event,

two very good friends:

wreaths and porches, too.

Ok, so why I am dedicating this post to my hubby?

Because today, he drove me to Lowe’s, helped me load my plants

after being very patient with me trying to pick out the perfect tray

of marigolds, came home and cleaned our porch, planted my flowers

while I “quietly” supervised from the rocker.

(There may have been a few “a little to the left”, “no, use the white pansies,”

“no, don’t plant that too deep.”)   Laughing

Then, he sweetly re-swept the porch when I made a mess

making the wreath.

What do you say, ladies?  Pretty sweet, huh?

Oh, and speaking of “pretty and sweet”…

My precious Miss C stopped by to see her Grammy and Grandpa

today.  She helped us plant a few buttercups, too.

Another sweet friend, Yvonne at Stone Gable, has a great tutorial

for a Forsythia Wreath.

Our Spring Porch design started from here…

I purchased two bushes of forsythia from Michael’s when they

were 50% off, and cut them apart.

I also made a pretty bird nest, another of Yvonne’s tutorials.

Lowe’s had a new shipment of one of my favorite Spring flowers…

Primroses!

I have wonderful memories of primrose from when we lived

in Belgium.

Every Spring, I would get up at 3am to go downtown Brussels to

the wholesale flower market, and come home with a van load

of primroses.

We added more primroses to the two urns on each side of the door,

along with some white Candytuft and yellow marigolds.

A vintage red, wire basket is filled with a burlap liner…

… and the same color scheme of flowers fill it to the brim.

Red primroses, white candytuft, yellow marigolds, yellow pansies

and a pretty Spring cabbage.

I tucked in two sweet bunnies…

… and a vintage gardening tool and chalkboard tag.

Two new, red cushions give a pop of color.

I pulled in my garden bunnies.  Mr. Eggbert is above.

And for the record, he says to tell you he’s not fat,

he’s just fluffy.

The striped red outdoor rug I added last Summer is still

holding its own.  Notice the No Sew Moss Pillow I shared

a few weeks ago?

A few simple containers of fresh flowers is all it took to

add a touch of Spring that makes us happy to see the

first day of Spring.

… and the perfect place to have an afternoon snack.

Barb your porch is wonderful! And me thinks Miss C looks a bit like you. I say me thinks because that is what my daughter used to say when she was about Miss C’s age. I wanted to link my wreath from here but your link isn’t showing up for me. Thanks for linking to the other hosts. And thanks for having the party!

You have outdone yourself, my friend. Your porch is wonderful! And that little cutie sitting on it? Well, that’s just the icing on the cake! Do you know that the whole reason I found you is because of one of your porch posts during your Grits and Glamour days? Yep. And I’m so glad that I did! xoxoxoxo

Barb, your spring porch is the epitome of Spring and I can’t wait for it to get to New Jersey. Mother Nature keeps teasing us, but we’re expecting snow again next week so we have to wait a little longer for outside flowers 🙁 You did a great job on the wreath and the nest. Can you share where you got the little eggs? I can’t find any around here. Many thanks.

Your porch is just stunning and I love that wreath. Little Miss C is so cute I could just kiss her face off, LOL. I have HB pressure too and I it is weird since I eat such a health y diet and exercise 6 days a week. They have it under control but I worry about it at times. Take care of yourself!!!
