The color is Laura Ashley Navy.
Although at first I loved the color, there was something
which wasn’t quite “right.”
It wasn’t the look and feel I was going for.
I was beginning to think that my
“Decorating Fickleness” didn’t even know what
I wanted.
Until I saw this picture on Pinterest…
Seeing this picture also correlated with finding and
ultimately buying a cabinet for my breakfast room
which featured this same Robin’s Egg Blue color,
and I fell in love.
So, in a few weeks my “new” dining room will get
ANOTHER fresh coat of paint (much to The Hubbs chagrin)
which will better compliment the softer colors of the
Kitchen and Dining Room.
It suddenly dawned on me that “softness” was the
key word. Light and wispy and soft.
You may remember my Pier1 tray of moss orbs my
daughter-in-law and I made one Sunday and I featured in a
“Wild About Mother Nature” Party.
You can see that post HERE.
I love the way the sunlight streams through in the morning.
Its one of my favorite places to have morning coffee.
Needless to say, its also one of the favorite napping places
for my cats. LOL
This vintage drop-leaf desk is one of my favorite pieces.
I bought this in England.
Blue and white hydrangeas on the glass and metal coffee table.
I can’t wait until it gets re-painted and I get to do another
“Living Room Reveal.”
🙂
I hope you enjoyed this tour.

You have been very very busy! I love the change…and the new ones to come! You must gently remind you hubby that it is a woman’s perogative to change her mind… and her paint color!

Barb, you know how much I love this color, it is so rich and inviting. I can’t wait to see how you lighten and brighten it up. Glad to see you have the open window policy like me. The more light the better in my book. This is my favorite room in your house. It seems to look wonderful in red, dark blue and the soon to be revealed lighter wedgewood blue!!!Great job sweetie, xo Kathysue

I love that inspiration picture, Barb! I see the softness that you are talking about and I love that myself. Better you repaint than have a room in your house you either hate or avoid!

Your room looks great Barb. Although I like red a lot. I like the blue better. Beautiful accessories as well.

I love this post…as I am going to let my hubby read it…he thinks I am the only CRAZY WOMAN who changes her mind!!….I loved this room…it felt so warm and cozy when I had the pleasure of sitting with you in this very room having a wonderful conversation….
But then again, as Yvonne said…it is a woman’s prerogative …. That is what keeps us interesting… How BORING would this world be with us changing our minds… wanting to make things better!!…
I love that you are leaving your windows bare…I really think it will look great with the lighter blue and the white trim….
I JUST totally redid my foyer and I think it may take another drastic change next week…A WOMAN’S PEROGATIVE!!…

We both are in the midst of freshening up our homes! And both in blue. Now I’m confused, you’re going to change the blue in the living room to what? The softer blue from the dining room photo?
I like the blue you have as it seems to go with your blue and white. One of the things I don’t like about the new blue in my dining room is that it doesn’t go with my blue and white china. I think the blue I choose has too much green in it to go with the cobalt. I really went with this shade due to the color of the curtains. I also felt that if I change my mind (see, you’re not the only one) the curtains were Target, so not a big investment.
Now, I love the blue in that photo you showed in the dining room photo. I just painted my bedroom a very similar shade – but that reveal is not quite ready!
Blogland can be so fun!

Oh, I forgot to tell you how much I LOVE that Christmas swag with the blue and white tea cups hanging from it! It reminds me of the my kitchen window treatments, that have blue and white tea cups hanging from them!

I love all of the color Barb! The blues, reds and golds look so good together. I am keeping my yellow/gold walls but am adding in some of the pretty blue colors in my accessories and pillows. I’m just too lazy to paint…lol. Great inspiration! Kristen

Barb, I think it just beautiful…but I agree, probably darker than you want to live with. I can imagine your hubby having a hissy about repainting so soon. MyHero would be doing back flips! I will look forward to seeing the final look! xo Diana

It is lovely, but don’t you just hate that when it is not quite right? I say it is the Roberts curse, because my daughter does it as well! Great, great room, you are so blessed.
