Procrastinate.
Procrastinating.
Procrastination.
No matter how you say it, it basically boils down to a needless waste of time.
The dictionary says procrastination is “putting off or delaying or deferring an action until a later time.”
Well, let me just tell you – I have elevated procrastination to an art form.
I am the Queen of Delay. The Duchess of Deferring. The Princess of….
Well… you get the idea. I put thangs off! 🙂
And I am not talking about major projects. Well, I take that back. I am talking about major projects.
My current Laundry/Pantry Demo was put off for 10 years. :-O
See what I mean? I have been granted Professional Status when it comes to procrastinating.
Take this bottle, for example. I have put this project off for weeks. (bordering on a month, but who is counting?) —->
I started making homemade mouthwash. (I’ll share that later this week.) I made a small batch to see if we liked it, and placed it in a small, sterile mason jar.
We liked it! 🙂
A few weeks ago, my good friend Suzy at Worthing Court and I went to Charlotte for the weekend, and we spent an afternoon at IKEA.
I found this glass bottle and immediately knew it would be a Homemade Mouthwash Bottle.
It was an epiphany, actually. Bottle. Mouthwash.
Jute. Scrapbook Keys. It all came together in my mind.
And then.
It struck.
Procrastination.
That dreaded disease that prevents perfectly good projects from being completed. I went to WebMD to see if there was a cure.
There was!
Here is what it said: “Get your blasted butt up and do it, for goodness sakes.”
Well. That was kinda forthwith, huh? It also didn’t help that we were out of mouthwash and The Hubbs threatened to go buy some
store-bought mouthwash if I didn’t make more.
I discovered that WebMD is right. I got off my butt and did it! It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you stop procrastinating long enough. I was gonna make a list of other projects I have put off for too long, but I decided to wait until later. 🙂
(no, really. I will.)

Hi Barb,
Ikea, huh? Great place, but hard to find my way out of! You don’t think they planned that on purpose, do you? 🙂 I wish I could find a way to keep visitors at my blog longer, like the folks at Ikea manage to do!
My challenge is Adult ADD. I start one project at home or at the shop and stop mid-way, to tend to some other project. Before I know it, I have 12 unfinished projects!
Take care,
