I unloaded almost everything and pulling from my china stashes….I started creating layers of fall abundance….
English Churchill wildlife plates featuring pheasants and deer and turkeys, to name a few…
I love this majolica-style pitcher with the leaf design….
(sorry for the blurred pic)
And speaking of pheasants….
(I realized I must have a pheasant-fetish! Say that three times fast.)
… a beautiful pheasant pitcher takes center stage in front of the pheasant plate.
I love how the browns and golds and rusts are accented against the black of the cabinet.
This year’s Fall theme throughout my home is “Rustic Elegance.” For example, dried hydrangeas are paired with crystal, amber grape clusters.
Thanks to my dear friend, KD at Southern Whimsy, I was “encouraged” to buy the Spode breadbox you see here. I found this a few weeks back at TJMaxx marked for $149.99, and asked the manager if she would give me a discount and she gave me 30% off. Yoohoo!
Isn’t it exquisite? And what is on the top of the lid? You guessed it…a pheasant. 🙂
I filled an amber-colored compote dish with acorns and a candle.
I just love these copper-colored, mercury glass acorns.
This cabinet just glows when all the candles are lit.
Hopefully by end of week after we get back from the mountains, I will be able to finish my breakfast room table and share that, as well.
To see more Before and After’s on Met Monday…please visit Susan at
Between Naps on the Porch. You will be wonderfully inspired.
Until then….have a great Fall week everyone. ~Barb

What a fabulous Met. Monday post. I am a fan of many of the same things you use here. The majolica, the phesant pitcher, the brown transferware, love it. I’m am mostly interested in your Spode bread box. The rabbit on the front of it is so cool.

You have filled up and displayed everything so beautifully in your hutch. I love the bread box! I’m so glad you got a discount! The pheasants are very pretty. I’m going to need some of those too I think. I’m going to be on the lookout. Thanks so much for sharing your gorgeous decor. I think the candelight makes it even more beautiful. Have a safe and fun trip!

This is really beautiful. I am only a couple months into blogging and posts such as yours are really kicking some new life into me. Once my kids left home and we had moved to a place where we don’t entertain much, I really stopped putting effort into decorating for the seasons. I’ve taken a 6 year, “I don’t care much” break…and seeing pictures such as yours, I’m really inspired again and having such fun. I’m also shopping like a crazy woman:)
Enjoy your trip!

Hey, Barb!
I think fall is one of the most beautiful seasons to decorate for, and your hutch is a prime example of why! It’s absolutely gorgeous! (Of course, it’s pretty darn beautiful in its everyday state, so how could it get anything but just more and more fantabulous!)
I was born in Winston Salem, and my parents live in New Bern, so I have a special place in my heart for all things NC. (I’m heading to New Bern in November for my annual R&R weekend with my little mama.) Enjoy your special weekend in the mountains there!
Grins!
