Baby, it’s cold outside.
Well, kinda. It’s more like chilly.
But, inside The Everyday Home –
there is “frost” on mason jars.
Ok, not exactly “frost”…but it sure looks like frost.
Today I am sharing this easy DIY project you
will want to add to your Christmas decor….
Easy Iced Mason Jars
I am so excited to be part of another
Mason Jar Monday Blog Hop.
{Christmas Edition}
Wait until you see all of the great projects this month.
It’s a Mason Jar Christmas Extravaganza.
Please visit each of the blogs below.
I love creating something for very little money.
In the case of this project, I spent zero dollars.
I recycled a mason jar and used greens from
my own yard to create a simple wreath surround.
The other two “ingredients” for this project
were Elmer’s Glue and Epsom salts.
The salt is what gives the jar its “icy” look,
and it’s so easy to apply. Simply paint on a thick layer
of glue. (any glue will work) Then roll the jar in
the salts. Press the salt lightly into the glue to
adhere it well.

Then let it sit to completely dry.
The salt will mix with the glue and harden once dried.
I cut some boxwood and cedar and made a small
wreath to encircle the iced jar.
*( I’ll show you how to make one of these later this week)

I placed the candle and the wreath on top of a
recycled cake plate stand.

A cute stamped snowflake tag tied with jute adds
a rustic touch.

I love the sparkle of the jar. It’s just as pretty with the
light of the sun coming through as it is the candlelight.

I think I will make a series of these to place
in a large dough bowl, and fill it with more greens.

This is lovely. We just purchased a “frosted” jar yesterday with lights inside. I have wanted to use Epsom salts like this but was afraid that with humidity, the salt would liquidity and ruin furniture. Does the glue seal it from moisture?
View CommentI have enjoyed your work since you wrote the “Everyday Decorator” and the forum on decorating Sampler Magazine site. That must have been over 13 or 14 years ago. I even made a potpourri faux cake that you gave directions for when you lived in Colorado. I live near Clemson in SC.
