We absolutely love granola here at The Everyday Home.
Granola is one of the few breakfast items we all agree on and eat on a regular basis. A few months ago, I happened to read the back of the box of granola we were eating, and the “healthy” breakfast I thought I was feeding my grandchildren was nothing more than a cesspool of chemicals. Really? Does everything we eat have to be chemical-fied? That is when I went on a quest to make my own Homemade Granola. It’s so easy to make you’ll never buy the chemical stuff again.
Homemade Cranberry Nut Granola

I get so discouraged when I think I am doing the right thing. Buying the right foods. Feeding my family the right, healthy choices. Only to discover I might as well pour a big ole’ bowl of preservatives into their morning cereal bowls. I won’t lie. We could and should eat a whole lot healthier than we do. I do try. We don’t buy or eat sugar-coma inducing cereals. At least, I didn’t think we did. Until I read the store-bought Granola box. :-O
The other day, I organized my pantry in preparation for the holidays. I threw out a lot of stuff. Not necessarily because it was old or out of date, but because I just didn’t want my family eating the stuff. So, anytime I can spend a few minutes using wholesome ingredients – ingredients that I know are good for you – I think it’s well worth the time and expense.
Plus, granola with cranberries and nuts just looks pretty in glass containers. 😀 But more than that, I can send this granola as a treat in my grandson’s school lunches and they love it. I will be making a version of this with dried cranberries and spiced, toasted pecans as Christmas gifts.
I am happy to share my Homemade Granola with you and I hope you enjoy it.

My fave glass storage jars for our Granola….
I discovered these jars several years ago when visiting Mill Valley, CA and Tyler Florence’s shop.
They make great storage jars for virtually everything, this Homemade Granola is no exception. They come in lots of different sizes. Here is where you can buy them – you’ll want to purchase several.
1/5 Liter Size | 1/2 Liter Size | 5.4oz Set of 12 | 9.8oz. Set of 6
