Hever Castle Inn England

We were tired and travel-dirty and jet lagged.

We need a hot bath, a cold beer and a soft bed.

Not necessarily in that order.

πŸ˜€

As soon as the jet wheels touched down at Heathrow,

The Hubbs and I were off and running.  As we usually do when

we travel to Europe.  This trip was packed to the brim and was

no exception.  We were elated to walk into this charming

and welcoming English room

………………………………….

Before we start with this little mini tour of our room at

Hever Castle Inn,  I need to warn you that these are not

the best of images.  They were taken with my iphone.  I didn’t

realize I had not snapped any shots of the room with my

camera until after we were on the road to the next town.

……………………………………………..

So I shared the tour of the grounds of Hever Castle a few

weeks ago.  Let’s do a quick recap…

Here is Hever Castle.

Beautiful, isn’t she?

Here is a picture of Hever Castle Inn as seen standing in front

of the Castle.  You can see the moat at the forefront.

The arrow indicates our room.

The Inn is Tudor in style.  There decor was a mix of

Tudor castle and spectacular English Country.

The entrance to the Inn itself was not showy.

(they saved all of that for the inside)

Once the staff checked us in, we were led through an

amazing courtyard with a beautiful fountain planted with

succulents and more succulents.

In fact, you should listen to this short video I took so you

could hear the sounds of that fountain in person.

Make sure you turn up your sound.  πŸ™‚

On our way to the room, we passed lots of hallways with

amazing Tudor walls, and I wanted to explore them all.

After a bath.

This is the charming light fixture located just outside our door.

Once we opened the door with a huge, heavy skeleton key –

we were greeted by a long hallway lined with windows.

A large, armour served as our closet, and in the back I

got a glimpse of the one thing I was looking forward to most.

A clawfoot tub.

To the left of the hallway, was the bedroom.

Across from the bed, and what we were amazed to wake up to –

was the most gorgeous bank of lead windows that looked out

onto the castle grounds and moat.

There was a tiny fireplace in our room.

The only thing that would have made this room more perfect

was if the fireplace actually worked and a kitchen maid came up

to light the fire.

On a small table was a beautiful leather-covered box, and

once opened it revealed a coffee and tea service.

But, after a day of walking in the rain amongst the gardens of

Winston Churchill at Chartwell House, I was ready for a

hot, soaking bath.

I headed back down the hallway towards the bathroom and could

not help but take a shot of the courtyard from our room.

There were two steps down to the bathroom.

The floor was covered in marble.  A mix of modern, opulence,

hominess and rustic charm all rolled into one.

There was a large walk-in shower at the far end with an amazing

rain water shower head.  A towel warmer with plush, white

towels stood ready and heated for us.

I can’t tell you how long I stayed here.

I may have even added some more hot water and stayed a bit

longer.  But, we were getting hungry and had dinner reservations

at the King Henry VIII Pub down the street.

(I will share that soon)

The next morning, I woke up super early to explore the Castle

grounds, since we were allowed full entry to explore.

After about an hour of frantically taking pictures of the beautiful

Italian and Roman Gardens, I joined my sweet hubby who was

waiting on me, where we would enjoy a fabulous full-English breakfast.

I met The Hubbs in the formal Library.

This room was so charming and “English” I didn’t want to

leave it.  I wanted to wrap it up and take it home with me.

These gold couches were downright sinful they were so comfy and cozy.

And everywhere you looked the woodwork was breathtaking,

with banks and banks of lead windows.

And even more hallways…

The breakfast Room was just as gasp-worthy as the remainder

of the Inn.  Sorry – I didn’t get a full shot of the whole room. πŸ™

The entire room was paneled from ceiling to floor with heavy

drapes of beautiful English fabrics and gorgeous old,

artwork and prints.

We were seated at a charming corner table in front of more of

those leaded windows I could not get enough of.

There is my sweet Hubbs taking a look out at the

Castle grounds.   Finally, the first round of our

breakfast arrived…

We enjoyed it immensely.

I don’t know what it is about coffee from a French press and

toast served in a silver “toast tray” but it’s wonderful.

πŸ˜€

Soon, it was time for us to check out and make our way

to our next destination.  But, not without one more

longing look out onto one of the mini secret gardens.

It is here, I made a promise.

I would be back one day soon.

To this Fairy Tale Castle and charming Inn.

Thank you for coming along with me for this tour of

The Hever Castle Inn.
