Welcome to Foodie Friday. A wonderful, weekly event that caps off an exciting week of blog posts and events.
It is graciously hosted by our bloggy friend, Michael…aka Gollum at
Please stop by her beautiful blog for a complete list of epicurious creations.
I am reposting, at Gollum’s request (thanks G!) my Tablescape Thursday post from yesterday.
But, as promised – I am going to share with you my easy-peasy
“Cupolean” recipe.
A cross between a cupcake and a stacked napolean.
So, if you saw yesterday’s Mother’s Day Tea, please scroll down to the
bottom where I have shared the instructions to make this
easy dessert. Enjoy!

This wonderful event is hosted by our friend, Susan at
Please stop by Susan’s site. Not only does she amaze us with her creative tablescapes, but her blog is beautiful, as well.
Best of all – there is a full list of of all the Tablescape participants.
Before I share my tablescape…I just wanna share that my heart is heavy today.
We had to put our dear Miss Prissy to sleep.
She was our diabetic cat and she went into renal about midday.
I held her all the way to the vet, and all the way back home.
We buried her under her favorite tree. I miss her so much, but she was suffering and I know she is better off. Rest in Peace, my sweet baby girl.

Sunday is Mother’s Day. I dedicate this tablescape to all the Mothers, Stepmothers,
Grandmothers and Mother Figures…and even Mother’s of Furr Babies.
May you feel the love of your family on this special day.
Mother’s Day Tea Menu
Curried Shrimp Salad Tea Sandwiches
Turkey BLT’s w/ Pesto Mayo
Chocolate-Mocha “Cupoleans” with Raspberry Cream
Chocolate Caramel Truffles
Lace Cookies
Drunken Raspberry Skewers
Earl Grey Tea
Cranberry-Lemon Tea
I used a pretty yellow tablecloth dotted with a floralscape of pink and red roses.
I then used an overlay of silk plaid in fuscia, buttercream yellow and sage.
Remember the plate I featured yesterday for
What’s on Your Wall Wednesday?
Here it is again with an appropriate message for the occasion.
I am actually using a teapot and a chocolate pot. They are both Bavarian.
This is part of the myriad of teapots/cups I collected when we lived in Europe.
I had dreams of returning to the States and opening a Tea Room, so I collected
boxes and boxes of dishes.
Maybe one day…..
I wanted the floral arrangement to look and feel like I had just come from the garden with an armload of flowers….peonies and hydrangeas. My favorites.
mmmm….Chocolate Caramel truffles arranged on a petite pink and white transferware dish.
Crystal beading and sheer pink ribbon reflect the beautiful Carolina sunshine cascading in through the window. The raspberry tart just glistens.
Sugared raspberries add color, and a small, silver tea spoon is used for serving.
Turkey BLT’s with Pesto Mayo
A tiered plate stand is decorated with ivy and peonies. Peony leaves surround pink rose plates which hold (upper tier) Turkey BLT’s and (lower level) Curried Shrimp Salad.
It’s a cigarette holder. LOL
I think it works much better holding the silver tea spoons.
Pink and green…what a delight.
hobnail creamer.
Lemon wedges and silver sugar tongs…
I used embossed fruit plates and creamy yellow napkins.
My vintage silver tea cake stand holds a raspberry tart and chocolate lace cookies.
I tried to create interesting layers so the eye would not know where to look next. 🙂

Peonies and pink hydrangeas….
Noritake Joaquin.
are used to label the teas.
Yellow with accents of pink…. perfection.
(I found this just a few days ago at Marshall’s by the way)
Vintage silver tongs tied with a pink French ribbon bow….
Chocolate-Mocha “Cupoleans” with Raspberry Cream
What exactly is a “Cupolean?”
It’s my version of a cross between a “cup”cake and a nap”olean.”
I will share this easy dessert for Foodie Friday.
Chocolate-Mocha Cupoleans with Raspberry Cream Filling
(1) box of chocolate cake mix, any flavor
(1) heaping teaspoon of espresso powder
Ingredients as called for on box
Bake cupcakes, allow to cool and remove paper cups.
Raspberry-Cream Filling
(1) can cream cheese frosting
(2) Tsp of Raspberry Preserves
1/2 tsp lemon zest, or 1/4 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp almond extract
Mix well, and allow to chill.
Cut cupcakes into three equal layers. Place chilled raspberry cream in a piping bag, or a ziplock baggie with the tip cut off.
Start with bottom layer, add cream filling and cap with middle layer. Add more cream filling over middle layer, and cap with top layer. Pipe raspberry cream onto top layer. Allow to chill until ready to serve. Just before serving, top with fresh whipped cream and a fresh raspberry.
Yep that’s it? Nothing complicated at all.
They don’t call me the Lazy Gourmet for nothing! 🙂
Finally….thank you to everyone for the kind comments and emails I have received over the loss of my sweet kitty, Miss Prissy. I take comfort in them.
Also, I know I am behind on the give-aways – so I will make that announcement over the weekend.
Finally – I have decided to borrow a page from our friend, Susan at
Susan, I hope you don’t mind.
A while back – Susan hosted a Q&A session where fellow bloggers emailed her with questions, and she dedicated a blog post to answering some of them.
I want to do the same. So – here’s your chance.
Ask, ask away! I will choose about 10 questions and answer them as best as I can.
Do you have questions about my new porch, my flower arrangements, the colors of my home…etc.
You can email your questions to:
I look forward to reading them.
Happy, Happy Mother’s Day Dear Friends….Barb
Many Blessings to all of our Mothers….Barb

Oh Barb, I too am saddened to hear of Miss Prissy’s passing. I had to make the choice 7 years ago to put our 13 yr old sheltie down because he was so suffering…it was the hardest choice I’ve ever had to make. My Abbie, (another sheltie) joined our household a few years later and is our source of joy, that’s why we named her that, because it’s what her name means. Although we love her as much as we do, I still miss my Precious Starry… Your tea/tablescape for Mother’s Day is very pretty! I love the Cupcake/Napolean recipe! Very Creative! ~Blessings… ~CC Catherine

This is amazing…it looks so beautiful and YUMMY! I just bought that same tablecloth recently…its the same pattern as my bedskirt in my bedroom. 🙂 Thanks for sharing this gorgeous table and all the yummy food!

That table is absolutely breath taking! So many gorgeous treasures (incuding the food) on this table, and I enjoyed myself so much, just studying each picture and getting inspiration. You have some lovely pieces. The idea of the framed cards with the tea names is so clever. Your inventive dessert sounds and looks wonderful.
I am so sorry about Miss Prissy. I am saying a prayer for you. Even when we know it’s the best thing for them, it sure doesn’t feel like the best thing for us. I know you are suffering. laurie

Thanks so much for this recipe, Barb! My mom would love these. Unfortunately, she doesn’t live close by, so I won’t be able to make them for her for Mother’s Day, but I definitely will the next time she visits.
Happy Mother’s Day to you!
