Projects that take minutes.

Literally.

These kind of projects relate to my life in so many ways.  Between flipping houses and volunteering at my Grandson’s school and taking care of the family businesses, I will have about 3-4 minutes left in the day to decorate my house for the upcoming holidays.  Anyone else in this same boat?  So, anytime I can create a series of smaller projects in advance, to be able to use in a larger project in the future, I see it as a win-win.  I am excited to share these projects with you. This is the first one…

Five 10-Minute DIY Tablescape Projects: Part 1

………………………………………….

I have to say, I have not been truly inspired for the upcoming Fall decorating season.  Usually I have a ton of ideas swirling around in my mind, but not this year.  So, I decided to take a stroll through Hobby Lobby.  If you cannot find some inspiration there, you’re doomed.  🙂   That is when I spied some miniature heirloom pumpkins, and the ideas started rolling in.  Isn’t it funny how that works?

I loved the green-gray color and the cute, curly stems.  Yes, they are faux, but they were fauxtastic. 😀  I decided on a color palette of gray-green, tan and white.  I see tan and white ticking, baskets and dried hydrangeas with lots of white dishes and white candles.

With those decor elements in mind, I decided to create five easy projects for my breakfast room tablescape.  These are all projects that can be completed in about 10 minutes and will also be very easy to make in sets of four.  For the first project, I am sharing a “Pumpkin Pot Place Card.”   Let’s get started….

Paper Mache Pot | The Everyday Home | www.everydayhomeblog.com

I started with these cute paper mache pots.  You can paint them, stain them, decoupage them.  Whatever you choose is fine. I decided to leave them as they are with one exception…

I used some jute cording to add some accent texture at the upper rim of the pot.  Some hot glue made this process quick and easy.

See the pick attached to the faux pumpkin below?  Easy fix. It pulls right out…

Once the pick was out, I added a bead of hot glue around the top of the pot and adhered the pumpkin right to it.

You can’t make a “place card” unless you have a name tag right?   That’s an easy fix…

Leaf Stamping Supplies | the Everyday Home | www.everydayhomeblog.com

A package of mini pennant tags, a leaf stamp and an ink pad in “Peanut Brittle.”  I laid the tag on a napkin, added ink to the stamp and stamped the leaf patterns off-center and to the side.

Here is the completed stamped tag…

I used a piece of jute twine to attach the name tag to the stem of the pumpkin.

Less than ten minutes later, I had a very cute Pumpkin Pot Place Card.

I will make three more of these and have about 30 minutes time invested.  I love the rustic look of the heirloom pumpkin don’t you?

I think the little mini tag is the perfect touch to this Pumpkin Pot.  I am very happy with how it turned out.  But I think I am even happier that I have a Fall Decorating Plan of Action.  It’s a beautiful thing. 😀

Do you think this is a project you could use in your own home?  If you did not want to use them as place cards, here are some other idea to use these for:

  • Line five or seven of these along a shelf or along your mantel. Put small candles between them.
  • Use them on a buffet or dessert table.
  • Instead of names, write words like “Gather” or “Harvest.”
  • Use single pots as small accents of Fall throughout your home.
