Eggshells and  Violets.

I know.

Probably not what you usually expect in the same sentence.

When we went to England last year, I brought home a cute ceramic

egg carton.  I have no clue why.  It just struck me as something I

wanted and it would also fit quite easily in my suitcase.  🙂

I used it to create a cute little Spring arrangement for

our Farmhouse-style kitchen island.

Here is easy it is to use eggshells for cute viola planters.

……………………………………………………

I usually hold off on decorating our front porch for Spring

until March 1st or soon after.  Then, I mostly add violets and

pansies that can withstand the cold.

Because it never fails, just when I think Winter is behind us,

Mother Nature says…

“Oh girl.  That warm weather? I was just teasing you.”

😀

Inside is a different story.  I have slowly started adding

touches of Spring, and even some Easter – here and there.

My mantel will come shortly.

eggs and carton

I know when you think of cute Spring planters,

eggs do not come to mind.  They are small and

don’t hold a lot do they?

That’s okay, because violets don’t take up a lot of space.

Preparing the eggs was super simple.

I took the back side of a knife and cracked around the upper

end of each egg.  Then, carefully, I emptied out the yolks.

Then later I fixed an amazing Spring Frittata I will be sharing

next week.  Once I had my eggshells emptied, I rinsed them out.

I carefully divided the plants into individual little stems…

Planting Eggshells with Violets

I had to remove a lot of dirt.  Then, I carefully “planted” the

violets into the eggshells.

It was that easy!

I only used three eggshell planters, and added some cute speckled

eggs on a bed of moss to the other spaces.

I decided to use the extra eggshells as single planters in eggcups.

I used these plain, white egg cups which match the

ceramic egg carton.

I have a set of four of these nickel eggcups.

They create a whole different look don’t they?

Wouldn’t these little egg cups make darling place cards for an

Easter Tablescape or used on a Dessert Bar with mini tags?

Can you imagine the possibilities?

For now, this little ceramic egg carton filled with Eggshell Planters,

sits on my cutting board looking all happy and Springy.

I hope you enjoyed my little

Your eggshell planters with violets are so fresh and beautiful for a springtime centerpiece or vignette. You can transplant them outdoors at a later time, if you want. Such a cute ide! Thanks.
