This morning we woke up to wind chills of 15 degrees.
Not cold to some, but pretty darn cold for Eastern North Carolina.
But, inside The Everyday Home, there are signs of Spring
starting to pop up here and there. I look as Spring decorating like
the tulips and jonquils I have planted in our yard.
Even though it isn’t quite Spring, I see a promise with just the tips
of the bulbs bursting through the ground.
Slowly, you see more and more until they are in full bloom.
This little Spring Vignette and DIY Easter Egg Rag Garland
is just the “tip.”

I found these oversized speckled eggs at Hobby Lobby
($3.99/ea 40% off)
and my creativity kicked into gear. I wanted to make a
rag-style garland to hang above the little blue chest in
our Breakfast Room.
I made my way back to the scrapbooking section, where I found
some super cute letter stickers that were in fun Spring
colors and prints.
Finally, a package of Fat Quarters which coordinated with
the sticker colors…
I cut about half of each fabric section into 1″ wide strips.
You will only need but about 24-36 strips total.
The letters went on easy – just a matter of sticking them to the eggs
and burnishing them with your fingers to make sure they adhered.

I used several strips of plain ole’ jute to create the banner.
The Easter Eggs came with an gauzy ribbon bow attached.
I used this to tie onto the jute garland.
Then, I just started tying on the fabric strips
until the garland was full and the spaces between each
egg was filled in.

I added fresh tulips (one of my top three fave flowers)
and white ironstone and cute, Spring dishes.

I love the yellow Bunny plate, and purchased the ruffled pink
bowls several years ago at Marshall’s.

I love how the blue of the chest works so well with all of
these Spring colors.

I propped up my little “Love Bears All Things” Chalkboard sign…

The colors of the stickers and the fabric strips are perfect together.
If you didn’t have access to the larger eggs, I think it would be just
as cute to use smaller speckled eggs and dangle them at
varying lengths down the garland.

*These speckled eggs would be cute to use.
You could handwrite letters to create whatever message you wanted
on your garland.
What message would you like to make?
