I am on a wreath-making frenzy.
I can’t help. It’s that time of year. I am happy to report my Dining Room is complete, and I have moved on to my kitchen and breakfast room. I wanted to hang little boxwood wreaths on the front of my white kitchen cabinet doors, but when I priced them at $14 and $16 each…I had to come up with an alternative plan. (I needed seven!) So, I shopped around online, found a product I liked and in under an hour, made these easy….
DIY Mini Faux Boxwood Wreaths

I located a *faux boxwood garland online for about $8. At 9′ long, it allowed me to get three mini wreaths per garland.
I needed a base because the garlands themselves were flimsy and would not hold their shape on their own. So in steps a few of these…
Wire clothes hangers.
(Can I just say here and now I was surprised I even had
SEVEN of these still around?) 😀
If you don’t have any wire hangers, use a sturdy grade of wire. I cut the hanger part off, and shaped it into a circle. Don’t worry if it’s not an exact circle, it won’t matter once the garland is attached.
Then I simply wired the garland on to the wire circle. It could not have been any easier.
I was worried the faux boxwood would look too..well…FAUX. But once it was all wired on I was quite thrilled with the overall look.
Finally, I added my theme ribbon for this year, a sweater ribbon, which you may have seen on my JOY Letters and, also, on my DIY Natural Evergreen Wreaths.

They look so darling on the front of my cabinet doors. I love how they give an instant Farmhouse feel, and the sweater design will be repeated throughout the kitchen and breakfast room in varying forms.

I would love to have the real version of these wreaths, but unless I wanted to strip down the boxwoods in our yard, I had to make do with the faux variety.

At about $4 each, and the fact that I can keep using these again in the future makes them a win-win, don’t you think?

Barb, I think you boxwood wreaths came out wonderfully! What a great idea!!! And I love them hanging from a festive ribbon from your cabinets!! Hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving! xo
View CommentVery cute idea! I like that you used a garland and it’s GREAT that you can use them again next year. You were thinking ahead on that one!
View CommentBarb, I adore your little faux wreaths! What a festive touch to your kitchen cabinets! Have a lovely weekend!
View CommentI LOVE box wood wreaths but you’re right … they’re pricey. Smart of you to use a faux garland. I used real boxwood stems to make wreaths a couple years ago and had to keep spritzing the wreaths everyday to keep them fresh! Yours look great!
View CommentLookin good Barb~!!
View CommentI bought 8 of those boxwood garlands when they went on sale last year.. I’ll be using them all over the house in different ways.. I’ll also try making a wreath by your instructions for my own glass front cabinet.. Thanks so much.

Oh, I love the idea! thanks for sharing…I have one real boxwood wreath, but really do not want to spend the money for more…so will use your idea! I have a question, however…where did you find that lovely sweater ribbon?? thanks so much, Diane
View CommentHow do you attach the wreaths to your cabinet doors without damaging the doors but so that they are attached securely?
View CommentTrish, I used a few strips of painters tape on the back. I taped right over the ribbon. Hope this helps. 🙂
View CommentThe link would not open to show where you got the boxwood garland… where did you get it?
View CommentSorry about that, the link is fixed, but here it is also. It is an affiliate link. Thanks. http://amzn.to/1TlbGHY
View CommentLove these! I just made some similar wreaths for my cabinet doors and will share mine soon. Love this look for the holidays!
View CommentLove these … Perfect for subtropical climate. The heat dries everything out so quickly that the leaves would have fallen off a natural foliage wreath by the end of the first day. So, apart from their practicality, I love that they are also able to be used again. Cheers, Wendy from Oz.
View CommentI love this! I want to try doing something similar for favors at my wedding but I’m looking at “extreme mini” versions of this..any tips for how to do this for 3 inch wide mini wreaths. my fiance is Australian and everything is with eucalyptus which makes it difficult. Any ideas are appreciated!
